Cafe Boheme

Café Bohème opened the 11th of June 2010 and replaced the Hard Drive Cafe a well known hang out of Jackson. The French owner’s dream was to bring to Jackson a French style cafe with a Renaissance and Romantic feel. Considering Cathy’s Bohemian lifestyle prior to opening the cafe, it is no surprise she picked Café Boheme for a name. Her vision is for the Café to become a place of encounter, exchange, discussions, in other words, recreate the renaissance meaning for Bohème right here in your neighborhood. The word Bohème takes its roots in the world bohemian which appeared in the English language in the 19th century describing the non-traditional lifestyles of marginalized and impoverished artists, writers, journalists, musicians and actors in major European cities. Bohemians were associated with unorthodox or anti-establishment political or social viewpoints, which were often expressed through free love, frugality and/or voluntary poverty.
