“sleep under the stars”
One of the best views for ridge soaring in the Country; Curtis Canyon faces the full Teton Range and if the wind is right is soarable until the sun sets behind them. Curtis Canyon Campground is a great place to camp if you want to be close to town but still off the beaten path. This wooded campground is located above the National Elk Refuge and a quick walk from your campsite will reward you with amazing views of the Refuge and the Teton mountain range. Hiking, mountain biking, OHV riding and horseback riding are all easy to acheive just minutes from the campground.

The phone number and website listed here is for a paragliding business, and they have no information about Curtis Canyon Campground
The drive up Curtis Canyon to the Forest Service campground, or to the nearby boondockibg sight just a few hundred feet away, is absolutely breathtaking!! The campground has just 12 sites, so if it's full, another option is to join the other campers who are happily boondocking a few hundred feet away.

Very close to downtown Jackson. I boondocked there for one night across from Campground, no charge. Be Aware........ The drive up to the Campground is very dangerous (in my opinion). You are going on 3 switchbacks up the side of the mountain on a gravel road that is 1.5 cars wide with no turn arounds or shoulder. In my Chevy Express it was a very rough ride. I would not attempt with a large RV or trailer. Also, the park rangers told me this area is getting a reputation as a party spot, where people are leaving trash etc. and also women were getting hassled. If I had it to do over I would drive that way and immediately as you enter NPS grounds 3 or 4 parking spots for vans or smaller class C before you go up the mountain. You are out of city limits so the Jackson Police will not bother you. There is a good view from the top but I would never do it again, or maybe I'm just getting old.

As a previous review indicated, the last 1.5 miles to the top is treacherous. The road is steep, rocky, with huge ruts on one side of the road in spots. Our rig is a pop-up towed by a 6-cylinder Honda Pilot. Our transmission fluid was hot by the time we reached the summit. Someone with a stronger tow vehicle or less weight may not have as much concern.
We snagged the last of the 12 sites, so we didn't have much choice. The site was uneven and tricky to back into. We used a few rocks on the site to get the height we needed to level one side of our pop-up.
That said—we loved the location. It was close to Jackson, WY, so that we could explore town. Plus, since the campground is so small, it seemed to empty out each morning. There were a couple of times that we were the only rig there, so it was nice and quiet. A few small trails allowed our kids room to roam, hike to the top of the hills behind the campground, with some sense of security.
The boondockers do venture in to get water. But, the ones we saw were respectful and didn't cause much noise.
This bookdocking area is popular with the locals. People go up there to boondock, mountain bike, paraglide off the mountain, etc. For us, watching the paragliding was part of the fun.
Pro tip: While there aren't showers or flush toilets, water is available. If you find yourself wanting a bit of fun plus showers, check out the Jackson Rec Center. You can swim, enjoy the hot tub, and then take hot showers. On Sundays while we were there, they did family swim for around $24. At that price, it wasn't much more than what we might've paid for coin showers elsewhere.

If you were like me and planned on boondocking next to this campground the FS has closed it. Dug a ditch, no getting through. Sad.
There is more boondocking further but SCOUT AHEAD... I made the mistake of going in 35' wheel and got lucky but was not easy....

I haven’t camped here but I live in town and pass it frequently. It’s a beautiful campground. The road past the campground is absolutely terrible. There are a lot of good dry campsites for Boondocking past this campground but they would be for SUV/tent and/or van camping only. There are 16 designated dispersed camping sites up the mountain. During the summer months, it’s often very very busy and can be hard to get a spot. Killer views though.

We landed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on July 6th and ended up camping at the Curtis Canyon campground which is located a few miles out town. The dirt road to the campground is a bit rough and steep but we just drove slowly. Our Chevy Silverado 1500 and 19 foot travel trailer made it. There are 16 dispersed (free sites) above the actual campground. We could have made it to the first 8 but after that it gets rough. We opted to stay in the campground which has excellent cell reception. We ended up in site 1 as it was fairly level and easy to access.
The upside of site one is easy access, relatively level and the sent of wild roses lingering in the air. The downside is you hear all the other campers coming a going. The camp host Fa was really chill and located across from us. This is dry camping. There is water available as well as restrooms. The camp host sells wood. There are wild animals including bear in the area so be aware of your surroundings.
There is an overview of the valley below, locals seem to drive up to watch the sunset behind the Tetons.
If you have a 4 wheel drive, I recommend heading up past the campground to explore the area. You can also rent Razors in town and drive them to this area.
I loved this campsite and could have spent the entire summer there. Great fishing nearby, hiking, biking, cultural all with in a 20 minute drive. This is a good option to explore Yellowstone and Tetons without staying in the park.

Het was wel pittig route naar camping. Er moet heel voorzichtig rijden met de camper (25 ft) . 5 miles is onverharde weg ( wel best pittig grof), maar op camping is prachtig en ook erg mooi uitzicht.
Solid campground right outside Jackson. Gravel road u the mountain has some rough spots, but nothing a car or van can’t handle. Campsites are tucked in the woods with no amazing views, but just a 5 min walk up the hill and you’ll have amazing viewers of the Tetons. Fire rings and bear boxes at every site. Clean vault toilets and water. Firewood for sale. Appears to fill up quick on the weekends
