“The best whistlestop between memphis and nashville”
Inside Casey Jones Museum you'll find travel information on beautiful and historic Southwest Tennessee and Tennessee provided by the Tourism Association of Southwest Tennessee. Casey Jones Village is also a Wi-Fi hotspot so bring your laptop or tablet. We are conveniently located on Interstate 40 at exit 80A between the musical meccas of Memphis and Nashville in historic Jackson, Tennessee. Jackson is at the Crossroads of the Music Highway & the Rock-a-billy Highway.
The Casey Jones Museum is more interesting than I originally thought it would be. It's a self-guided tour that begins with a short informational video. The museum contains several authentic railroad artifacts. You can access Casey's home, and it's pretty well reserved. The museum also has a life-sized model train that you can climb and ring the bell. Across from the museum is a buffet-style restaurant. Everything is located right off the highway, so it's quick and easy to access. It's worth a quick stop.
Worth the stop, the museum was very informative and helped us better understand why 'Casey' became a folk hero. He deserves the honor. The shops were fun to walk through.
For what it is, it is great! Plenty to see, an interesting story. Take the time to go through the museum. The food was decent enough, the gift shop had some cute souvenir items. Highlight was definitely the museum for us. There is a Tesla supercharge station there. It was open on a Thursday, so check their website, because Roadtrippers said it wasn’t open.
Great history, nice place, fun stop for the afternoon!
Overall this was pretty disappointing. The surroundings of this are terribly run down and derelict. The village itself is sparse and seems to have been left as it was in the 70s. We spent about 1 hour here and keep on going. It's ok to stretch your legs but otherwise a pass in our book.
