Nice boardwalks all through the pretty trees but definitely not taken care of. And it is not a loop; it dead ends into a lookout. Nothing else there.
The trees and boardwalks make for some striking photos in late fall/early winter when most of the foliage has fallen but the snow hasn't started. Our family stopped here on a near cross country road trip for Xmas. My only complaint was that some parts of the boardwalk were blocked off due to rotting wood and holes, and I feel like they should take better care of these walkways since so many people visit this place. Also, it was drizzly and overcast when we were there, and the boardwalk got very slippery. So be cautious of that. Otherwise, it was a beautiful sight to a family from South Texas that usually sees only live oak and palm trees.
We really enjoyed this park. It was so neat to see the birds, walk the boardwalk, listen to the sounds of the wetlands, watch the fish in the pond, and cherish the time spent outdoors in such an amazing setting.
We HIGHLY recommend taking a small detour off of I-40 and experiencing this wonderful pit stop!!!
Very scenic and enjoyable walk through the boardwalk, though we walked through many spiders' threads that had been spun since the last visitors! We happened to get there first thing in the morning and the owls and other birds had mice and other beasts in their cages to feed on which was neat to watch.
Everyday 8a-5p in the fall/winter spring/summer 8a-7p open 7 days a week and holidays.
Love to go here and walk the boardwalk. There is also an observation tower and a raptor center.
Nice pit stop to stretch our legs. You can walk the board walk and take pictures of birds.
Nice boardwalk to explore. There is a couple pretty ponds and a very neat predator bird preserve. They usually will have a couple different kinds of owls, hawks, and a bald eagle. Would be a nice spot for a picnic and break while Road tripping.
Very cool nature walk. Visited with my daughters which made it that much more enjoyable. Nice stop to take when road tripping
