“learn the history of the blues”
The B. B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center is located in the heart of the Mississippi Delta on US Highway 82 between Greenwood and Greenville, not far from the famous Crossroads at Clarksdale. Opened in mid-September 2008 and built to honor the life and music of one of the most accomplished musicians of our time, the museum serves as a vital resource to the State of Mississippi and the City of Indianola. The museum’s exhibits and educational programs serve to build bridges between the community and the world while preserving the rich cultural and musical heritage of the Mississippi Delta.
Very nice museum that provides great insight into Riley King the person and B.B. King the performer. The place is full of videos, exhibits, and displays highlighting the history of blues in America. I highly recommend taking the time to walk through.
Beautiful place for discover where music born
If you like the music of B.B. King, you have to stop at the B. B. King Museum! It's a wonderful tribute to one of America's most prolific musicians. The museum is also pretty hands on, and you can mix your own music and even play the guitar, or sit in the same chair at B.B. himself sat in. Admission is $15 per person, or if you have a student ID it's only $10. There are tour guides onsite and a short film to start off your experience. Since there's so much to do and see, budget at least 2 hours. King is also buried in the back of the museum, so be sure to pay your respects.
I was surprised by the emotions evoked during our tour; take the time to view the videos along the way-they tie together the displays that follow really well.
World class museum. We were very impressed with this museum. The video's are a must watch. Bravo!
I enjoyed visiting this museum so much. I spent over 2 hours at the museum and I never get bored. All of the exhibits are interesting. There are informative videos interactive displays, and interesting artifacts. And the museum is beautiful. The staff was nice and friendly. All in all my experience here exceeded my expectations.
