Just an overnight stop for us.
Maybe a 15 minute drive off the highway but very nice and quiet. Pull through #15 right off the lake is very nice (just a smidge off level side to side).
Water was not on at the time we stayed, but we were aware of this and had some in our tank.
Camp host came by to check that everything was fine.
Power did go off in the camp in the middle of the night for some reason but was on again by morning.
Would certainly stay again longer.
We stayed at the Lake Walcott State Park Campground last week (Sept 2020). It's not exactly "on your path" and is about 20-30 minutes or so off the main highway. It is so worth the detour! You are driving through desert landscape until you enter Lake Walcott State Park where there is green and luscious grass and huge trees everywhere you look. We also saw 4 different families of deer with their fawns frolicking around the park. The sights are to die for with breath taking views of the sunset & sunrise over the lake. They also have a 5 star disc golf course.
Walcott Park is situated within the Minidoka National Wildlife Refuge.Wildlife abounds within the park and along the lake shoreline. Mule deer, small animals such as raccoon, porcupine, squirrels, and many songbirds are nearby.A variety of ducks, geese, pelicans, shore birds and upland game birds along with owls and hawks make their home in the area.
