“Come enjoy a stay at this rustic log home!”
Our beautiful log home known as the Big House was built in 1925 by Mary Breckinridge, founder of the Frontier Nursing Service (FNS) When it was completed in December of 1925, Mrs. Breckinridge held an open house and invited everyone in Leslie County, Kentucky to come and be a part of the celebration. Mrs. Breckinridge was very excited when nearly 500 people arrived at the Big House, the majority of them on horseback. In 1991 the Big House became National Historical Landmark. The Wendover Bed and Breakfast Inn has sixteen guest rooms: Four rooms in the Big House five in the Wendover Barn and seven in the Garden House. The Barn at one time was where horses were kept. Today it is the home of our Gift Shop and historical photo gallery. Our guests love browsing the Gift Shop looking at Frontier Nursing memorabilia and crafts made by local artisans. Your stay at the Wendover Bed and Breakfast includes a hearty country breakfast served in the " dogtrot" dining room, surrounded by beauty and history. Frontier Nursing University (FNU) is the proud owner and operator of the Wendover Bed and Breakfast Inn.
Fun place to stay for some R&R.
