Houston Zoo is a great place for families with children, but even for those who feel like children.

Even though, generally i am against zoos because most of them keep animals in very small spaces, i was pleasantly surprised when i realized that the specific zoo has created places for the animals that pretty much look like their natural inhabitant.

The entrance fee is reasonable and one of the main advantages is that you are allowed to bring your own food with you, something that is very convenient if you have kids with you. Mine were absolutely thrilled with our walk there that lasted roughly 3 hours. So many animals to see and in many cases you may stare at them from various angles.

The best time to visit Houston Zoo is a little bit after 16.00, which will give you a full 2 hours time space, which is more than enough, to pleasantly wonder around the zoo. There is also a kids petting zoo, where your kids can feed giraffes for $3. But you should better check out at what times either by visiting the zoo's website or calling directly the zoo's customer support.

It is the kind of the zoo that surely you will want to return, soon !

Zoo parking stinks. There are no spots available and more that 20 cars looking for a spot.

It's pretty average compared to other zoos that I have been to, but a good experience regardless. Parking is horrendous. As far as we could tell the "zoo" parking was shared with a popular park and after driving around for nearly 30 minutes we found some on street parking a few blocks away. We now realize that you can pay to park in several parking garages, but we are transplants and too dumb to figure out city life.

Believe it or not, the second most visited zoo in the US, as well as one of the largest tourist draws in the region, is the Houston Zoo in Texas. (They do say everything is bigger in Texas!) Not only is this zoo home to over 6,000 animals, but they also have one of the largest bird collections, support nearly 50 conservation projects worldwide, and sees over two million visitors per year.

Some of the zoo’s exhibits include Kipp Aquarium, Texas Wetlands, and Wortham World of Primates. You can hang out with some Houston Toads, see the Golden Lion Tamarin’s leap from the trees, or see a Tapir snuffle in the grass for some tasty treats. Can’t go wrong with a day full of conservation and animal shenanigans.

We think this is one of the best zoos in the US!

This zoo is small, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good time! You can even feed the giraffes! Speaking of food, bring snacks and drinks for kids so you don't have to shell out at a concession stand... and wear comfy shoes!
