Poe Springs Alachua County Park Thursday-Sunday.
My family and I came to the area to see UofF and some springs. Our original plan was to visit a neighboring spring up the road but 1 was closed because it was full and the other was over-run by rowdy kids and young adults. The only other option was Poe Springs. This actually should have been our first option. There is a 5-7 minute walk from the parking lot to the spring but it is on a board walk and is quite a nice little walk. A beautiful spring with plenty of space to explore not over-run with people. You can enjoy the head of the spring or you can take a walk down the spring to where the spring runs into the river. Bring some goggles, water shoes, a cooler and some chairs and make a picnic out of it. A much better choice than either of the springs up the road if you plan on bringing your family.
