“headquarters of Hawaii's leading biologist”
Make Kīlauea Visitor Center your first stop when entering the park. Rangers and volunteers are on duty in the visitor center daily and will provide visitors with the latest information on the current eruption, hiking information, things to do and the daily schedule of ranger-led activities.
I've been here a couple of times and it's actually an incredible visitor's center. The volunteers who work there are very knowledgeable and super friendly. It's a great way to start your volcano adventure. You'll basically get a crash course in volcanology. The center opens at 7:45AM and closes at 5PM. Rangers are at the park til about 5PM.
