“An ancient mystery”
This Hemet Maze Stone is a prehistoric petroglyph and an official historical landmark. California Historical Landmark No.557 can be found west of town in Reinhardt Canyon. Take hwy 74 to California Ave. Follow for 3 miles to the end. Park near the gate, walk on the road up the hill. The stone is within chain link fences.
Sort of out of the way stop, but worth it if you want to stretch your legs. The actual stone is about 1/3 mile walk up a paved road that is closed to cars. The rock itself is blocked by two chain link fences but can still be seen from the trail. Easy walk for families.
It's a really interesting stone to see, and it's huge! Just a short walk from the main road, follow the trail. Great stop if you are on a long road trip and want to make a stop and stretch your legs.
