Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 27, 2020This is a large parking area just off the main highway at the entrance to the Peterson Wildlife Management Area. We were the only one's here when we arrived but 2 other campers showed up within a few hours. Still plenty of room and space for large rigs. It's not the most level area but we made it work. There is a gate to the wildlife area that made for a nice walk. The road goes for miles. We saw pheasant, pronghorns, deer and plenty of great views. We loved it. You get a little noise from the road but the traffic was minimal. This is definitely far away from any populated area yet we were able to get 25Mbps with T-Mobile and 20Mbps with AT&T.
Caution: Someone locked the gate while we were walking. It had no warnings so if you drive a vehicle down that road beware. We had to climb the fence.

We first drove to the national forest Soldier Creek small equine campground, through and west of Fort Robinson. It was all full, so after checking on Campendium we gave this place a try. It worked out great as an overnight stop on our way to The Black Hills of South Dakota.
First of all, let me say how pretty this area of Nebraska is! Rolling hills, pine trees, it was gorgeous. Not so much right at the camp spot, which is a large pull out in front of the gate to the wildlife area. We were able to get level both directions on the first try, so a win to us. No one joined us, and we didn’t hear any traffic on the road (U.S. 20) after 10pm. Pretty area to walk around, and the sunset was beautiful.
We had great cell coverage and internet access off our AT&T hotspot.

This is a scenic overlook off the two-lane. We stopped here because the city park in Harrison was too small for us. It was a very windy NE spring day so was extremely windy until the sun went down. Then a beautiful sunset. One other truck camper joined us. Around 11:00 or so a small gathering of locals showed up. They didn’t bother us and left about 11:30 pm. Verizon cell service was good enough for me to work and join video calls. Great overnight spot with an awesome view to the East.

First of all, let me point out that the small lot where there is sinage for Peterson Wildlife Management Area is NOT the scenic outlook. Maybe I'm just dense, but I parked there, and thought "Wow. This is ugly." After a couple minutes, I happened to look up the road to the left (not so much a road as the driveway to the scenic overlook) and the lightbulb went off. I drove up and there is a HUGE asphalt circular lot. I quickly found a level spot on the lowest side of the lot. From there I could not see the road, and vehicles passing by could not see me.
I was the only one there. Several other truck campers and small pull-behinds came in, but stayed only briefly. Locals pulled in to dump their trash (there is a dumpster on there), and of course, people pulled in to take photos at the Scenic Overlook. I was alone at bedtime. When I woke up, there was another guy in a truck at the far end. The weather was extremely hot the day I stayed, but the winds at night provided some relief. It is right next to a road, but there are very few vehicles coming by because this is WAY out in the middle of nowhere, and the road is below the overlook, so noise was not an issue.
I had 3 bars of Verizon, a great view, and an extremely pleasant stay.
