This campground is a gravel lot with out shade. It is surrounded by a hill in three sides, so it is somewhat protected from wind. The campground is down the street from Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, which is what brought us to it. The owners are cattle ranchers and stopped in and chatted us up for a few minutes. They were very welcoming and gave us a tip to go to the 4th of July fireworks in Harrison, NE (If you are in the area for the 4th, it's small town America at its finest).

There is almost zero light pollution. The stars were beautiful at night...until a storm blew in. Not the campgrounds fault by any stretch, but because it is so isolated, there was zero Verizon signal. We were not able to anticipate the storm earlier than when our weather radio went off saying the storm was imminent. Again, the campground is great, but the lack of signal may not make all happy.

You can call or message on Facebook to the owners. They are responsive. Reservations probably not needed unless there is some event at Agate or another eclipse falls over the campground.

We travel in two rigs and had the place to ourselves. There are 4 sites. Pull thru with water and electricity/50 & 30 amp. Except for the cow patties (none in residence) the place was clean and provided beautiful scenery 360°. There was no cell service for Verizon but we drove into Harrison 23 miles away for service one day. Very grateful for these folks providing space to stop and rest. We didn’t go on the Agate & Fossil trail but enjoyed the visitors center a lot

Amazing find of a campsite. $25/night for electric and water (dump station provided). A mile from Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. Perfect for an overnight stay to visit the NM or stay week and relax! The seclusion and peacefulness cannot be matched. Get gas and groceries in Scottsbluff or Charon before coming out. No services for miles and miles, just unbelievable views or prairie land. Camp host, cattle ranchers, are so friendly! She came by twice during our stay and gave us pointers and hints of what animals we may find. We saw pronghorn on the hill behind our site! Great AT&T coverage. Would definitely stay here again.

An empty lot of pull-throughs with water and electric, dump station available that we didn’t use. The toilet was locked because of the time of year. The hosts stopped by to take our money. It was very convenient to the Agate Fossil national monument that we had just visited. Some horse poop in the lot was easy to avoid.

I fell in love with this spot because we were the only ones there the entire weekend! Other than the birds and a "moo-moo" here and there, it was QUIET. Other than the moon, it was DARK. The views of the pastures, prairie, and open sky were beautiful. We came up from Scottsbluff for the weekend to be closer to Toadstool Geologic Park so that we could spend an entire day there, and also spend some time at Agate Fossil Bed National Monument. (We did the 5-mile loop at Toadstool, which was stunning.)

If you come from the west, the campground is past the Agate Fossil Bed NM, literally right after the pavement ends (thus the name). If you come from the east, you'll be on a gravel road for quite a ways. I recommend taking the longer, paved route to come in from the west if you are heading from the east in an RV. You'll add miles, but it will be worth it to avoid the long stretch of bumpy gravel.

Communication with the hosts on Facebook Messenger was seamless and informal. They have a self-service pay box, and shortly after we arrived, the owner stopped by to make sure everything was ok and offer to take credit card payment if we preferred. I suspect that reservations are not required most of the time, but just to be safe, send them a message to let them know you are coming.

They had laid fresh gravel down and tried to level the spots. We were level side to side, and had a bit of a downslope to contend with. One of the owners came by again Sunday to check on how difficult it was to level and said he planned to do a bit more work to get it level front to back.

Note that there is no fence between the pastures and the campgrounds, but the cows did stay on their side of the road. There is a hillside to the rear with a warning sign about snakes. We didn't see any while we were there, but it's especially worth paying attention if you have children or pets. As with most of Nebraska, it can get quite windy, and there is no tornado shelter nearby. (Not sure there's even a siren within hearing distance.)

As for wireless service, my husband's Google Fi and our Starlink worked great. There was ZERO Verizon or AT&T for us.

Site quality is great for the price. It's a small, gravel park with electric, water, and a dump station. The restroom was not great, but we didn't need it.

Fantastic spot next to agate national monument. Took a walk through the adjacent prairie and saw a magnificent sunset. A little challenging leveling out front to back but can be done. Nothing comparable for 20 miles, great spot!
