“quiet & shady country camping”
You will enjoy camping in a quiet and shady country setting here in Northern / Central Michigan. We are conveniently located on Old U.S. 27/M-61 immediately off U.S. 127 at exit 170. Our entrance is between the Marathon gas station and Burger King. One of our most important assets is courteous and friendly management. We are a convenient stopping point before reaching Mackinac Bridge and Sault Ste. Marie. Closest campground and easiest access to Rocks and Valleys Off-Road Park

We have had a seasonal site for the last three years and this used to be such a nice campground. The owners were friendly and cared about the campers, both seasonal and daily. They took great care of the campground and enforced the rules without being unreasonable. Unfortunately they sold the campground prior to the 2021 season. The new owners did make some improvements, notably a bounce pad on the playground and a makeshift water slide at the back of the bath house which our grandson greatly enjoyed. The bath house facility is first class, and the previous owners kept it very clean, but with the increased traffic due to the added attractions the bath house is often dirty now. In addition the new owners have doubled up several sites in the campground with those sites not called out on the campground map. I would suggest that anyone planning to stay check to see if you are getting the space that is shown on the map rather than getting disappointed when you arrive (pictures are attached). One weekend they were filled up even with the doubled sites so they parked a camper by the activities building and supplied that camper with a very loud generator for power that ran for most of the night. They repeatedly lied to my family and others concerning rates and repairs to the electric at my site that were never completed. They have had electrical work done in different areas although the building department told me that they had not issued any permits for this work. There have been numerous instances of dogs running loose in the park, same dogs over several days.

Located right off highway. Gravel Pull throughs so level we did not have to unhitch. Staff vey helpful. Trees trimmed to assure slides open unobstructed. Highly recommend staying here.

We stayed five weeks here from the end of April through June 3rd. It was amazing to experience spring unfold daily as the trees went from hibernation to full bloom.
The owners were impeccable hosts that were always out, every day working on making the campground better. They helped us back into a tight spot when we arrived, allowed us to get mail and packages while we stayed there, and even took our trash out. Talk about spoiled!
While there, we hiked on their private trails, which were lovely. We used their laundry room, which was clean and in good working order. The dryer got my clothes dry after the first cycle. Didn't have to keep feeding it quarters until they dried.
There was never a day, even on their busiest weekend (Memorial Day), that the restrooms/showers weren't impeccably clean. They have nice rainfall-type showers that rival any nice hotel. It was a welcome break from the ol' RV shower.
Memorial Weekend was a packed house, but everyone, including the owners, was out and about having fun. Kids at the park seemed to enjoy themselves. There are some cool things for kids to do.
Each of the three owners on site made it a point to wish us farewell and safe travels when we were leaving.
The park is quite literally hidden on a hill. There's a highway, Burger King, and gas station just down the hill. But you wouldn't know it from the campground, nor would you notice the campground from the highway if there wasn't signage.
Their WIFI was screaming fast. Far and above any other campground, we've been to. We were able to do our work without any issues. T-Mobile and Verizon had good signals as well.
Nothing is too far away if you need it. The grocery store is just four minutes up the road. RV parts dealers are all around. They also have an RV repair guy that will come out if needed.
To sum up, we have not one complaint after spending five weeks here. The place is beautiful, the owners are awesome and hard working with a determination to continually improve and be the best campground in the area. I highly recommend them, and thank them for a pleasant and relaxing time.
