We were in site #48 and it was amazing! We paralleled the water and were surrounded by trees. Our picnic table and fire ring were behind our rig and very private. We travel in a 40’ Class A towing a Jeep and had no trouble fitting and leveling. A 45’ rig would definitely fit. Even though it was only an electric only site (50/30) it was a 5 star experience due to the water views and secluded nature of the site. I booked this site the moment the reservations opened in January. This location (also known as Hancock Recreation Area) is perfect for leaving your rig and heading over to Isle Royale for a night or two.

Friendly staff and a nice place, sites are packed a little tight so I imagine backing a rig in during the weekend is not fun, but I was able to drive all over the site across from us to get situated during the week. Sites appear to be oriented in small groups, so not a lot of privacy, but you can only see 2-3 neighbors and it's quiet, would be great if you were gathering with friends.

Great city rv park. Strong electric, very good wifi, & beautiful view from sites along the river, especially during the fall color season. Site 53 is the best water site, especially during the fall color season, with a beautiful view of the hills across the river . Nice variety of electric & or water sites & shade or sunny sites. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days here, while we toured the Keweenaw peninsula for the fall color.

The Hancock Campground is in a good location if you want to visit the Keweenaw Peninsula yet still have city services available. It's about an hour from Copper Harbor so you can still visit the tip of the peninsula easily. The RV sites in this park vary widely in quality. There are a handful that have some level of privacy from your neighbor. But many of the sites are haphazardly designed and you may end up backing up to your neighbors firepit or picnic table. So picking a good site is very important at this campground. The tent sites however are quite nicely designed with lots of space and privacy tucked back in to the woods.

If you’re looking for a great base camp to hike, ride or explore the Copper Harbor area this is a great place to stay. Also a very safe place to stay if you want to set up a place after Isle Royale NP. The upper campground has both electric & water. Site #5 has 50 amp. Sites 1-6 has both electric & water. The lower portion by the river only has electric. Bathrooms and Showers were clean. Camphost very accommodating. You can buy ice & firewood there. Hancock and Houghton very close. Walmart within minutes. Sea Plane & Ranger III within minutes if you are going to IRNP. They’re WIFI is awesome!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here in our convertible car camper and it was very nice. It was filled with kids, families, and pets. The facilities were nice and sleeping was quiet and peaceful. What really makes this location great is the lake, it’s absolutely beautiful. It was so nice in the morning to walk down and sip your coffee by the lake. Wifi was an added luxury which was great!

We averaged $26 / night for E50/I. Our dirt site in this heavily forested city campground overlooked a scenic lake. Sites were nicely spread out and with the heavy wooded area we could not easily see sites beside us. Internet service was good. The biggest drawback is that we could not get level and therefore could not open our slides. Our site sloped 8 to 10 inches between rear and front tires. Because of the inability to level, I gave this 3 stars. It would've been lower if the price had not bee so low.
All of the Keewanaw Peninsula is within an hour drive. Not to be missed is Brockway Mountain. We watched the sunset over Lake Superior 700 feet below us then drove 10 minutes to the other side and watched the full moon rise over Copper Harbor 30 minutes later. It was fantastic!!! The self guided Delaware Copper Mine tour taking us 1400 feet underground was also very interesting.

We got there early. The lady in the entrance building was very efficient. She had the groundskeeper go check our site before we pulled over there. There's local information inside the building. We rode the mountain bike trails in Houghton. We liked the ones in Hancock better-drive to the north end parking lot to start.
The campground was full and I think it's hard to keep the showers clean, what with all the kids running in and out with dirty feet, so wear flipflops. The sites are dirt or grass. Ours was very flat. Table and fire ring.
I think you get traffic noise anywhere in this campground-the quarry across the road, or the highway across the river. The sites along the river had a great view. We were in the trees, which could be good if it were hot. It was a bit dark for us, but we weren't there much.
Cell service was pretty good, I think. It's been a few days since we were there.

Negative:
Some sites are tightly clustered and the map is a little deceptive to showing which have privacy.
Positives:
Great staff, an excellent job at maintenance, fun location, well laid out and few or no branches/trees for big rigs to navigate. Dump station is east to use and there are multiple trash dumpsters and multiple dog bag garbages. Boat launch area has a large area for parking, prices are good. Nice kids play are.
