Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 24, 2020Small clean campground on the CO Canal with vault toilet. Easy water access with a small boat ramp. A number of kayakers, canoes, and paddle boarders made use. Also a number of people fishing. At the entrance there is a small convenience store to grab supplies that you may have forgot. Did not go in, but their signs indicated they had a bit of everything.

We stayed here for one night on our way S from Maine to NC. Once we got there, we wished we would have reserved for longer!
Important: Come in through High Germany Road - low bridge under the rail if you come in through the little town.
When reserving, note the site lengths and trailer limit of 20'. We had to back up over the tire stops to fit and not have to disconnect our truck from our trailer.
All dry camping and shortish sites. Site 6 would have fit us better, but 5 has a great view of the river.
Cool history, nice walking on the C&O Trail as well as the Western Maryland Rail Trail - both are right next to the campground, gorgeous views of the Potomac River and the canal bridge. Also boat launch and the river was flowing slow, so kayaking would have been fun!
Nice hikers & bikers coming through - we only had one other biker camper there when we stayed. Could hear the trains across the river.
We get the senior discount, so our price reflects that.
