“Haunted foster home turned wedding chapel”
The Dominion House was built in 1923 as a masonic children's home. The home was occupied until 1978 when it was closed due to changes in the Oklahoma foster care law. After that it remained vacant until 2000, when it was purchased and renovated. The building is notorious for it's reputation as a violently haunted location, with numerous paranormal investigators reporting sightings of apparitions, moving furniture, and disembodied voices. Legends tell of a cruel headmistress employed by the boys home, a woman whose severe punishments led to the accidental deaths of several children housed on the premises. Their bodies are supposedly still buried somewhere in the basement. Another tale tells of a suicidal nurse who threw herself over the bell tower, her restless spirit still haunting the grounds. Now, the Guthrie Boys Home has a much friendlier position in local community - as a newly renovated wedding chapel. If you want to chase ghosts in the Dominion House (without getting married), it's good to note that have been open to hosting paranormal investigations at the building.
