“Relive the exciting journey of this early explorer”
Situated on the banks of the famous Green River, the J.W. Powell Museum is a showcase of the trials and tribulations of the expeditions of Powell as he attempted to explore and record the geology and geography of the area. The museum also covers pre-history and has exhibits about the more current river runners.
A decent enough museum with some interesting history, the Powell museum makes for a nice stop as you pass through Green River.
This small museum is worth a stop. It covers a range of river history including the exploration of the region and the efforts to navigate by boat. The entrance fee is $6 and gives access to exhibits, a 20 minute movie that gives a good overview of Powell’s first trip, and an art exhibit. Free panels outside review the history of the town of Green River as well.
