“California’s Most Beautiful Fairground”
Whether you’re visiting one of the Fairground’s activities or visiting our area for a vacation, the RV park at the Nevada County Fairgrounds is open year-round. We are an RV park in a campground setting. Our facilities are nestled among tall pine trees, providing a serene setting and encouraging a safe camping experience. The Fairgrounds are centrally located in the heart of Nevada County, near the historic towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City. The RV Park has 44 sites with full hook-ups, approximately 100 sites with water and power hook-ups, and numerous RV sites without hook-ups throughout the grounds.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on February 17, 2022We chose a partial hook-up because it was under the trees and afforded us a little shade. Had 30amp and water. FHU sites are in the middle grassy area with no trees. Not a lot of privacy. Nice pond for a stroll with Canadian Geese lurking around for handouts!!
The park is right next to the fairgrounds and it is accessible to walk around as well when nothing is going on. Some noise associated with fairground business, trucks, maintenance, etc.
Bathrooms with good showers! Friendly staff and hosts. Easy access to Hwy. 49 and Gold Country activities.

Check-in was fast and efficient. We were greeted by the staff and everything was ready for us. We had some difficulties with our water hook-up and the host, admin and maintenance staff all responded quickly and everything was fixed and ready to go in just a few minutes. We had originally planned on staying one night but enjoyed it so much we added another. If you are wanting to explore the surrounding Grass Valley and Nevada City area, this is a wonderful place to stay. We were between events at the Fair Grounds so it was nice and quiet for us. Take a walked around the pond to really enjoy the grounds. We will stay here again if we are in the area.

We came here during COVID and they are allowing first responders, line workers, nurses, and firefighters to stay here during the shutdown. Highly appreciate and it was super quiet.

We only stayed here one night - but we really enjoyed it! Very nice park hosts! Our only complaint would be when we made our reservations we were not told that the RV park would be in Gate 4 - so we almost made a big mistake and turned to early - it would have put us in a very tough spot to get out of with our motorhome. It might have been our fault since this was our first time camping in a County Fairground. We will be more prepared next time we go back there!

We liked this campground. Next time we will pick a site in the shade of trees. Only a small number have good space and if you're lucky a grass area. Stayed here for Memorial day and man it was warm. 96 degrees and our AC barely kept up. Needed to be in the shade. Nice pull thru spots and although ours was two back ins back to back they gave them both to us for the same price as one. Looking around it seemed to be the norm. Not too many people out since it was so hot. We planned to stay another night but heading to higher elevation to escape the heat and then on to Tahoe. We are a 35ft Class A towing an Ironhorse motorcycle trailer. Had no issues maneuvering around.
A lot of geese at the lake. The lake is no swimming and fishing only for children 12 and under for free.

I usually stay away from fairground campgrounds, but this fairground is much more like a state park campground. gravel pad surrounded by grass. Try to get a site in the trees. Super friendly host.

We stayed here to visit family and there was easy access to both Grass Valley and Nevada City. The cell signal isn’t great but I loved the lake. We stayed in another site a couple weeks before staying in a premium site and it felt pretty cramped, especially if you want to sit outside at all. There is a lot of geese there at the lake so with that came a lot of goose droppings everywhere. Also, there isn’t a dog run at all but there is one 5 min away. :)

Beautiful little park under tall ponderosa trees. Ground a little muddy after recent rains, but not too bad. Lucked out by being there during a free home and garden show, and a classic car show in nearby Grass Valley! If you aren’t a local, be aware that once you find the fairgrounds you need to go on down McCourtney Rd to gate four. There is no signage until you are right there. I paid 35/ night for e/w plus $3.50 online fee use of the on-site dump station included. My Verizon phone and hotspot worked fine.

Did not expect this pleasant an experience when we chose this location. As previous people have said, proceed to Gate 4, things are fairly well marked except for the distinction between full hookups and the water/electric only. The arrow was missing directing us to that location. As reservations are made online and the office had called asking if we would pay the full balance in advance, we never stopped at the office to check in.
The sites in the water/electric only section are a little confusing, they are marked only by the hookups themselves and an occasional set of tire marks worn into the spot. As this section is basically an open field with hookups, parking was easy enough. We could have driven to the far side and pulled through had we thought about it. We were somewhat level, it wasn’t hard getting situated. Those sites also share the hookup between two sites and there appeared to only be one plug in for the electric. No one parked on the other side of us though, so we never had to go ask if there was a splitter. The online map shows a bathroom/shower and dump station in that site, neither was open while we were there. The one that was open over in the full-hookup section is clean enough, the water pressure and temperature in the shower were fine (free, btw), and there is a code for the bathroom. The confirmation email we received failed to give us this information, it wasn’t until the next morning that we were able to get that. Fortunately we didn’t really need it until then.
Ignore the sign at the dump station that says $15, it is free for registered campers. It is inconveniently located in that you are partially blocking either a roadway or a campsite while using it. Other than that it was fine, and as a bonus there is a handwashing station right there as well for when you are done.
Location-wise it was perfect for our needs. My husband was scouting fishing opportunities, I don’t fish. The Grass Valley area has a transit system (we are big transit supporters, being retired drivers) and the nearest bus stop was an easy 15 minute walk away for an exploratory trip into town. The nearest services are an easy 5 minute car ride up the road. If you luck into an event at the fairgrounds themselves, it may be a little more crowded, but our stay was quiet and pleasant.
