“featuring authentic Danish pastries”
“Arnie’s Bakery was founded in 1905 by the Sonneveldt brothers, John, Chris and Arnold as Crescent Bakery (pictured on front cover) on Grand Rapids west side. Arnold continued in the business as Sonneveldt Bakery and in 1922, he moved to our current location on Leonard Street. About 1930, Arnold changed the name from Sonneveldt Bakery to Buttercup Bakery. Arnold’s sons, Robert and Arnold Jr. took over the bakery from their father and continued in the business for many years. Buttercup Bakery with retail locations around the Grand Rapids area became a well known bakery for it’s high quality authentic Danish pastries, Artisan breads and one of a kind cakes.”
