“presents exhibitions of national caliber and regional distinction”
The Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM) presents exhibitions of national caliber and regional distinction. The museum collection spans Renaissance to Modern art, with particular strength in European and American 19th and 20th century painting and sculpture. The Works on Paper Study includes more than 3,500 prints, drawings and photographs. GRAM's commitment to current and future generations includes opening the doors of its current home in 2007 as the first newly-constructed, LEED Gold certified art museum in the world. Newsweek magazine cited GRAM as one of the world's six best new buildings that year. Adjacent to a park designed by Maya Lin, the Grand Rapids Art Museum is a unique gathering place in the heart of downtown with exhibitions, programming, and special events designed to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds.
I enjoyed my time visiting during ArtPrize. In addition to ArtPrize there are other times when you can visit for free. Paying isn't an issue, however, because there are so many things to look at! Worth the trip!
