The sites are clean and well maintained. Flush toilets! Right on the lake. We really enjoyed it.

Good place. Quiet. Not busy but left before what looked like was going to be a very full weekend.

There are a limited number of sites that can handle Class A motorhomes larger than 35'. The CG is right on Shadow Mtn. dam and the Colorado River, but no sites have water views. However, the views of the surrounding mountains are great. Plus, several RMNP trails, the Continental Divide trail, and Arapaho NF trails can be walked to right from the campground. Fishing can be done in the reservoir, spillway area or in the river. Some of the spotless restrooms have flush toilets. Since the pine beetle killed most of the large trees solar systems are unobstructed. If you couldn't get into RMNP and stay here instead, you won't be disappointed!

After using up our 7 day stay limit on the east side of the park, we used Green Ridge as a base to explore the western side of RMNP. It was ideal for this purpose. The park is at the southern end of Shadow Mountain Lake (though elevation of sites prevents water views from sites) and just outside the western edge of the park. We loved having hiking trails into the park that left directly from the dam/campground area, and it was an easy drive up the Kawuneeche Valley to access other trailheads in RMNP. The park entrance station on the west side is not crowded. The wildlife on this side of the park is spectacular, and we enjoyed running across moose, deer, and/or elk every single hike we took.

The campground itself is easy to access off Trail Ridge Road, and is close to the town of Grand Lake. We appreciated having a gas station close by, and even better was the decent cell service we enjoyed on AT&T. (Speeds on AT&T with our MyFi, unboosted: Down 56.89 Mbps Up 3.6 Mbps) Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be a lot going on in the town of Grand Lake.

The campground itself is pretty standard for a national forest or national park campground. The area could use a little TLC (gravel pads all had weeds, lumber bordering sites was pretty ragged and splitting) but was safe and clean and worked perfectly for our needs. The pull-off (parallel parking) sites along the loop are the best for larger rigs. Some of the backin sites could work for large rigs, but many of those are shorter and much more unlevel. There has been some tree growth since the major bark beetle infestation, but not so much that there was any difficulty producing solar power every day. The trees are mostly short and provide some privacy between sites, but little shade.

We really enjoyed being on the "spur" of the A-loop, since we had relatively little traffic passing by our spot so being right next to the road was no problem. We found this campground to be full on weekends and quiet during the week during our stay in July. When the boat ramp is in full swing and all the sites are full the campground can get busy/noisy, and there is a road providing access to private homes running along the south side of the campground. Perfect tranquility it is not, but we thought the convenience of the location made up for the traffic.

Holders of the national park annual pass (America the Beautiful) do not need to pay the separate recreation fee of $15/week -- that also applies to the holders of the senior and access passes.

The campground is very close and walkable to Shadow Mountain Lake. It is a pretty tight campground in that many spots are very close to each other which is usually expected when near a recreational lake. The road leading to the campground does get a lot of traffic so it can be a bit noisy during the day but was pretty quiet at night. There is a boat launch very close which didn't seem too busy at all. There are vault toilets as well as a couple bathrooms that actually had running water and the campground and lake were very clean. We did have phone service (TMobile 4GLTE) at about 2 bars that went through some roaming service. We did not have any data.

We really enjoyed our stay. This is a quite campground. Potable water and dump station is located 1/2 mile before campground entrance. The headwaters of the Colorado river was right behind our site. There were many people trout fishing along the river. One night we had a bull moose feeding 100 yards behind our camper. The sites were level but were a little small. Everyone in my group needed to park our trucks along the road in front of our trailer. Rocky Mountain National Park is roughly a 7 minute drive. The town of Grand Lake has everything a person might need to restock. Cell coverage was OK....I needed to walk up tot the lake to get internet connection.

I wouldn't suggest this is the most scenic campgrounds in the world, but in terms of accessibility, it's excellent. Ten minutes to RMNP's west entrance. About the same into Grand Lake. And, hiking, literally from your campsite (the Continental Divide Trail and access into RMNP via hiking trails is connected to the campground).

Bathrooms were kept up fine - flush toilets and running water is always nice. For the price, showers would be nice. The reservoir is up a hill and the Colorado River runs from the dam spillway that you are camping next to - that is cool. Make sure to go for a stroll along the Colorado in the early morning (towards the AA Barn right next door) - you're likely to see moose.

When we arrived and had just finished setting up we had a real treat of a bull moose walking across the field right behind our campsite - What a welcome to the area! It was awesome. We also saw elk, a fox who was hunting, plenty of osprey (we're told Eagles - but never saw them) - it's great for animal watching too. We paddleboarded in the lake a couple times, but honestly did so much hiking we were almost too tired to do too much lake play. Great location....scenery decent...animals awesome...cell coverage not great...

This is such a wonderful, well-maintained campground and it’s a 1 min (literally) walk to Grand Lake! The bathrooms (flush toilets) were so clean and the camp host, Diane, was so friendly and helpful. The campground is only 15 min from Rocky Mtn NP and 5 min from the cutest little town called Grand Lake Village. Would LOVE to stay here again for a longer period of time.

The price reflects the Lifetime Senior Federal interagency pass. We were in site 47, 45’ long and a back in site. We were able to back in our 39’ Tiffin into the site and had enough room to park our Jeep perpendicular to the front of the coach. There are no hook ups. There are flush toilets close to our side and an unthreaded water spigot in front of the restrooms. Our loop has several sites that will accommodate 40’ motorhomes. I notice trailers and 5th wheels have and easier time because they can back over the end of the site until their wheels hit the concrete bumper leaving room for parking the tow vehicle. The loop with sites 42-78 is the best loop for larger rigs. There is evidence of a lot of pine bark beetle damage but there are small trees growing between the campsites so shade is not available but if you have solar you will get plenty of sun.
There is no dump station here. The dump station outside the campground near the boat ramp has been closed for a couple of years and it doesn’t look like it will open. You will have to go to Stillwater campground on Lake Granby to dump and fill your freshwater tank for a $5 fee.
We use Verizon and AT&T devices. Cell signal is weak for data so I set up our Weboost RV65 system which helped. The campground is located close to several towers but surrounding hills attenuate the signal.

Daily amount paid is with Senior Pass and further reduced because water had been shut off for the season.
Camp is nestled in the Aspens, beautiful colors and the cleanest bathrooms (vault) I’ve ever seen. Several first come sites that are very level. Would be a 5 star except no water or dump station.
Great location to visit Grand Lake, RMNP even Steamboat is only an hour away.
