Hilltop Campground

We were only going to stay here 2 nights but added 2 more because we enjoyed ourselves so much. The location is central to many Shawnee National Forest and other activities. The price was for full hookups, available at each site as far as we could tell. Ron, the manager and caretaker, was friendly and helpful. Decent bathhouse with good showers. Firewood available. Right off I-57 but little road noise is heard. A quiet cozy little place in the country.

We debated about staying here due to so few reviews - BUT - we are glad we did! This is a hidden little gem right off of I-57, near Ferne Cliff SP and Shawnee National Forest. All of the sites are shaded with nice, tall trees. The grounds are well kept, and the people are extremely nice. There are some long term residents, but they are in the back. We will definitely stay here again. We stayed here in a 45' motorhome in a pull thru.

Small but cute. Lots of trees and shade. Full hookup sites (we had 30 elec). Showers were clean and well maintained. Quiet and peaceful.

Located right off I57, so very easy access from Freeway.
We stopped here cause of the weather, we were going to stay 1 night but stayed for 2. Nice level side to side pull thru site. Also had free firewood, camp host said burn as much as you want. There are a few seasonal site but was pretty quiet for a Saturday night.

Cell signal on Visible was 23megs down with 27megs up and T-Mobile 5G was 185megs down and 45megs up.

Full hook ups, easy access, pull through spots and plenty of peace and quiet. It made for a great 1-night stay when passing through the area, but would be great for a slightly longer stay as well. No fancy amenities but it’s clean and spacious. Cash/check only, no credit.

I stopped here for one night on the way home from a trip. I called ahead of time and the campground host said he was out, but to just pull into one of the pull through spots and he would settle up with me later. He came by on a golf cart about an hour after I got there. I gave him $30 cash and that was that. You can't beat a full hookup site in quiet campground for an overnight spot. The site was completely level. Highly recommended.

We were headed to another place, and had been driving all day. Pull up in the app and called to see if there were 3 spots open. There were!! Really cute and cozy campground. Not too far off 57, but I’ve yet to really notice road noise.
The owner is super nice! Took us to our spots and even helped us back up since we were TT.
If we are ever back this way, we will 100% come back!

We paid for a pull through that showed available at the time of reservation and when we got there it was occupied and then we were told it’s the same price so it doesn’t matter. That did not sit well with the wife. We won’t be back.

Beautiful and well maintained campground with easy access to I-57. No WiFi. Surprisingly quiet given its proximity to the highway. Cash or Check only.
