“surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest”
Windy Hill Acres Inn is located on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail in beautiful Southern Illinois and surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest. The Inn is a Rock Potato House which has been remodeled into a beautiful 5 room house with deck. The Potato House was built in the 1800's and used to store the farmers' sweet potatoes until they could be shipped to Chicago, Illinois. In the 1950's the Potato House was made into a residence and has been used as a home until 2003 at which time the owners Bob and Carol Nebughr, retired school teachers, decided to open the house as an Inn.
