“Spring Training Facility of the Cincinnati Reds & Cleveland Indians”
Major League Baseball in Goodyear: The Cleveland Indians joined the Cactus League in 2009 when they moved their Spring Training operations from Winter Haven, Florida to Goodyear, Arizona. When the Indians came to Goodyear, it marked Cleveland's return to Arizona and the Cactus League, where they trained from 1947 to 1992. The Cincinnati Reds made the move to Goodyear from Sarasota, Florida. The Reds took possession of their new development complex in October 2009, and hosted their inaugural season in Goodyear in Spring 2010. Hosting both Ohio teams provides synergy, additional advertising opportunities, and increased tourism possibilities.
