El Capitan State Beach offers day use and overnight camping. Located about a 30 minute drive north of Santa Barbara along Highway 101. El Capitan has lots of shady areas with many oak and sycamore trees throughout the park. Some of the camp sites offer beautiful views from the cliff-top. There is a sandy beach with tide pools and the park has lots of hiking trails. It's a great setting for swimming, fishing, surfing, picnicking and camping. Camping at El Capitan is very popular and the 142 camp sites can fill up months in advance. Reserve early for best camping sites.
Beautiful place to stop on the way to San Luis Obispo. On the beach with a little forest. Haven't been here after the oil spill here in 2015, should be interesting to see the effects.
