Beautiful, quiet, lovely camp host, great place to stay. I believe it was $12 a night? Maybe $15, can't remember. One of the best places I've been!
Aside from the bathrooms which have seen better days, this place is beautiful. What's not to like about having a grassy lawn to park your rig on, and enjoy sunshine and a beautiful river in your backyard? The sites were level, the neighbors were quiet, and the camp host was very nice. We had lots of sun for our solar panels.
This river has salmon runs throughout the year and we saw fisherman along the bank of the river at times. I even bought a fishing license to try my luck but to no avail. We watched a seal and an osprey both days doing their thing. This campground is a refreshing alternative to the typical "family style" campgrounds where so many sites are packed into a small area in the trees.
It is extremely peaceful and open here, and a great place to unwind and let the sights and sounds of nature wash over you.

I had a friend meet me here and we both adored this campground, run by the Port of Gold Beach. The river views are stunning, the birding is fantastic, and the local trails like the Rogue River Walk and the Frances Shrader Old Growth Trail very worthwhile (and educational in the case of the latter trail). For a large campground it was quiet and peaceful. We felt that that was due, in part, to the older clientele but, also, to the management done by the Camp host (so sorry to forget your name) and the assistant camp hosts, Carrie and Ernie. The showers here cost only $2.00 - the water is nice and hot and lasts a long time. The sites were spacious. There is a grass volleyball/badminton court. I will definitely come back.

The campground was nearly deserted being late in the season. It was very quiet and peaceful. We parked our 34’ Class A Motorhome into our site front end first rather than the traditional backing in. We wanted the beautiful view of the river and mountains in our largest window. The campsite were mostly green, grassy and easy to level our rig. The showers and restrooms were basic but very clean. For $2.00, you can take nearly a 10 minute hot shower which, was very welcome. The assistant campground hosts, Ernie and Carrie were so friendly and nice. The river is fairly slow and lazy at this location so, we broke out our kayaks and played on the water. We saw seals and river otters almost daily. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return. We have heard that during peak season that this campground can get pretty busy. Thanks Ernie and Carrie!

First come, first serve park with friendly host. Called a couple times before arrival and someone always answered. Only a handful of people here in early May. I was told things don't really pick up until the 4th of July. I saw a water spigot in the day use area...not sure if there are some scattered in the camping area. No dump station. Totally workable AT&T for streaming and video meetings but we were also using our Mimo to help boost. Much warmer and much less wind than we had over at the coast, so that was a welcome surprise.

Nice campground with beautiful riverfront sites. Free hot showers and potable water available. We watched a Bald eagle try to steal fish from an Osprey mid air. There is a great hiking trail at the west end of the CG that was unexpected and beautful.

We loved this campground so much, that we extended our stay to 4 days. Its first come first serve, no reservations. We were there mid-week, so we had no problem getting a site. Apparently it can fill up on the weekends. Quite a few sites back up to the Rouge River. We were able to carry our kayaks from our campsite to the river. There is also a road going down to the river. The wildlife viewing is excellent. There is an osprey nest near the bathrooms, and you can watch them fish in the river. We even got to see them fight off a bald eagle who was trying to steal their fish. There are real bathrooms and showers for $2. Loved this campground.

This place is a bargain for what it is. Campsites are right on the river or in grassy, open areas. There are restrooms, showers and a hiking/jogging trail that takes off From either end of the campground and runs 6.5 miles along the river. We saw lots of osprey and one bald eagle. When it’s a little too foggy or damp on the coast, drive inland just 7 miles for sunshine and warmth. Some sites are quite close together and a bit challenging for privacy. But overall, we recommend.

After reading such great reviews, we thought we’d found a gem to spend a second week in the area.
Drove out to the park from our space in town two separate days to check it out. Did not waste your time.
While it’s dry camping, with no dump station on site, it’s overflowing with long timers. Several rigs appear inoperable with hoods up and many have filled campsites with excess personal items.
The few unoccupied sites near the river’s edge had laminated signs indicating they were occupied.
Between no length of stay limits and no requirements that sites actually be occupied to be rented, this park has no options or desirability.
