“The favorite spot of writer Jack London”
1400 acres of trails, pristine vistas, and historic buildings demonstrate early 20th century life. London's literary work, adventures, and passion for the land come alive in exhibits and interpretation provided by docents and staff proud to be the first non-profit in the state to operate a state park!
Jack London State Historic Park was saved from closure by Jack London Park Partners, a project of Valley of the Moon Natural History Association. Everyone can enjoy Jack London State Historic Park and discover the trails, Jack's Beauty Ranch, picnic sites, historic stone barns, the House of Happy Walls museum and more. Founded in 1960 with 39 acres including the musuem, London's gravesite and the ruins of Wolf House, the park now includes most of London's holdings and is a National Historic Landmark.
Jack London loved Sonoma Valley, the magnificent natural landscape. He fought his way up and out of the factories and waterfront dives of West Oakloand to become one of the highest paid, most popular and prolific writers of his day. Although he sailed the world over, this gentle landscape in the Valley of the Moon made him feel at home and anchored to the land.
Gorgeous park with a lot of interesting history! Tour Jack London's home and hike up to see the elaborate stone mansion he was building. Nice, clean park and a good hike.
