Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on December 27, 2023We had to be in Georgetown for some work on our RV in the morning, so picked this lakefront campground to stay at. We honestly didn't find too much special about it.
Yes, there are sites right along the lake you snag.. and they do have pretty views and are spacious. And within the park there are some non-lake view sites that are pretty secluded. But most of the sites are right next to each other (with decent separation) and don't offer too much.
On top of that, many of the sites are on a slope and are very unlevel. Nothing on Recreation.Gov mentions this. The lake view site we reserved would have been impossible for anything over 25' to level in (site #37, for the record).. and all that was left was to move us to the back of the park into a non-view site.
If you need to be in the area, we hear better things about Jim Hogg park across the lake - we would have gone there, but it would have added 10+ miles to our early morning departure.
At $26/night, we found this park overpriced for a Corp of Engineers park with just W&E. But, it was close to the shop we needed to visit in the morning, so did the trick.

We spent one night here on our journey through the Texas Hill Country. Having stayed at Jimm Hogg Park on the other side of the lake I sort of new what to expect.
The roads are tight, pads are very sloped and the lake is hard to get to.
I enjoyed the foliage but was unable to really enjoy the lake due to my mobility issues.
If you have a boat this is a really great park if not it is kind of boring.
I have posted a video about my visit and it can be found under the Blogs tab above.

Stayed in a site with access to the lake so that we could do some kayaking. We were able to kayak across the lake to the other park, Jim Hogg. Very busy on weekends, and we saw a lot of traffic through our site as it was the only place to access the lake. There are boat ramps separate from the camping area. Sites are very unleveled; our tongue was on the ground and we had to built a tower of leveling blocks for our back supports. Roads through campground are tight and there are a lot of trees - use caution if you are in a big rig. Overall, site was very nice, concrete pad with shelter and picnic table. Only water and electric hook ups. Dump station and trash cans near entrance to camping area.

This was our inaugural camping trip with our trailer. Check in was quick and friendly. Our pie shaped lake front space was fairly level. The picnic table was on a concrete pad with a large sturdy cover. There was a grill and fire ring that also had a flip-over grill if needed. There was plenty of space between us and the other sites. I really enjoyed the shade of the oak trees. I checked out the bath house which was basic with two showers and two bathroom stalls. Only one of the sinks worked when we were there.
We didn't hike much as our stay was short and we were concentrating on getting to know our trailer. The trail we did hike was well worn and clean.

Arrival was easy. They do have a gate with a code to get into the campground. I like this, cuts down on traffic in the campground.
This park is close to civilization with a great view. If you need anything there are stores close by. During this time of the virus we needed a getaway to look at something other than the walls of our home. This Park gave us that.
The bathrooms are dated and smelled a bit when I used it. I only used the bathroom once. We're not using public bathrooms much now during the virus. i
Our favorite things about this park, is the shade, the breeze which was constant and the quiet at night.
The dumpsters were quite a distance from our site. It would be nice if there were some trash cans around the campground.

Only 1 night here, the park is beautiful, lots of shade. Well spaced sites but not real level, if you don't have hydraulic leveling you will need at least 2" to level side to side and good size blocks to lift the front. Didn't use any of the facilities.

Arrival was very easy with a reservation just receiving the gate code and sticker for the window.
Really enjoyed our stay. The area was quiet with lots of trees which did prevent us from using our awning, which we really didn't need anyway. There was plenty of space between sites and the tables had shelters. Although the weather was cool and crisp we really enjoyed the blue moon and the campfires.
The only downside was no heat in the bathrooms and one didn't have any hot water due to the water heater being out of order.
Will definitely stay again especially with the America the Beautiful pass making the rates so reasonable.

We did one overnight here at Cedar Breaks to test our new camper van, and it was all just fine. Clean site, clean restrooms, good infrastructure. Crowded, as everything is during COVID, but enough space to keep our distance. Enjoyed walking the area around the CG in the morning, and the price can't be beat as they accept Nat'l Parks Pass for 50% discount (thus $13 and not $26). Had 10 TV stations of varying clarity and a wintry view of the lake.

We highly recommend this park. On the outside loop where we were, the sites were very large and lots of cedar trees were between the sites. We did not have a lake view, but loved the woods and the wind break. As we stayed late March/early April, the park was more than half empty for about 8 of our nights. Lake access is not easy, except for the boat ramp area. We launched our 4 kayaks easily, as 4 full sized boats/trailers can be loaded at one time. Hiking is wonderful at this park, try to put Crockett Gardens on your list of things to do! Bathrooms were clean, although we didn't use them much. Very helpful & friendly camp hosts and full time staff. As another review mentioned...If you are over 62yrs old...get the National Parks Senior Lifetime pass. It can be used in many places and because this is a Corp of Engineers campground...it qualifies the holder for half price camp fees!! $12/night for electric & water!!! And, big sites, beautiful views...
