“Promising the best that nature has to offer in Gatlinburg”
Bearskin Lodge promises the best that nature has to offer in Gatlinburg with its unique mountain charm located at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. At Bearskin Lodge you'll find state-of-the-art amenities among its traditional mountain craft decor and massive log beams. Downtown Gatlinburg shops, restaurants, and attractions are just outside your door. Gatlinburg became a lodging destination many years ago and our lodge will take you back to a time when visitors came to enjoy the clean mountain air and cool streams of Gatlinburg. Those days are here again as you can look at the bubbling mountain stream from your balcony or enjoy a hike into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park right from our door step. While at our Gatlinburg lodge, take a float on our own meandering lazy river, or a dip in our swimming pool that looks upon Mount LeConte.
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights this month(Sept 2016.) We can't complain about the price. When we first arrived at the hotel it was 30 minutes before check-in time. So we waited in our car for awhile because we noticed people standing around and waiting outside. We decided to go in about 15minutes before check-in time. There were 3 people working behind the counter - when we walked in not ONE greeted us or even looked our way. We understood they were busy but automatically we didn't feel welcomed. We decided to just sit by the fireplace for a few more minutes and let the very small lobby clear out. At that time I noticed a bug/beetle crawling by the fireplace(I didn't say anything, because it was in the main lobby right by the front door-thinking it just got inside.) I never saw any other bugs during or stay. A staff member came from behind the desk and was asking customers their last name and was checking to see if they had clean rooms ready. When she asked us we told her we had just gotten here and all she said was "ok" and turned around and walked back to the counter to help different people. After we heard the staff telling customers they had clean rooms we decided to just get up and get in line. When we got to the counter we checked in with no problems. The staff was not overly friendly though. We had a King, In room Jacuzzi/fireplace with balcony overlooking the city room on the 5th floor. Our first impression walking into our room was "Really it's a conjoined room?!" We were not told our room was a con joining room. The first night we had no issues with hearing anybody next to us but the next 2 nights it was noisy. The room was kind of plain. Waisted space. The jacuzzi tub could've been cleaned better/floors could've been swept better/and the floor of the shower/tub was very weak/the bedding was very thin/the bed was not the most comfortable/the lighting in the room was very dim. You could here every person that walked by in the hallway too. We did enjoy our balcony overlooking the pool area and downtown. They came to switch clean linens/"clean" the room our 2nd full day. The breakfast which is on the 3rd floor was actually good. We ate there every morning-The dining room is small. We never did get a chance to try the pool/lazy river just too tired from our adventures-we did notice a lot of people that used the pool and lazy river and seemed to be enjoying it. We did sit by the fire pits one evening-very nice. Whenever we would return to the hotel during the afternoon/evenings and enter through the lobby we were never greeted-except one evening by a staff member who was laying in a chair in the lobby on their cellphone and she did manage to say "Hey guys!" When it was time to check out the process was very easy and quick but again the staff member was not very friendly and didn't ask us how our stay was or anything. They did ask us if we needed a receipt because we didn't receive one at check in. I hate to leave such a long review and somewhat negative but it was our first stay at the Bearskin Lodge and our 4th return to Gatlinburg. From the website and ads we saw of The Bearskin Lodge we thought it would be a lot different-better. We will be returning to Gatlinburg but won't be staying at The Bearskin Lodge.
