Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on April 05, 2021We had been staying at Fritch Fortress campground (Lake Meredith) and were looking for a reprieve from the high winds. We checked out this spot and found a gem. There are 3 different camping areas at Plum Creek: upper, middle, lower. We settled at Lower Plum Creek and feel it was the best option after we drove around in our truck and checked out the other two a few days later. All 3 areas do have picnic tables and shelters, grills and fire rings, evaporator vault toilets. We wouldn't have risked taking our trailer into the upper campground as the roads were quite rutted, narrow and had obviously been washed out in certain areas.
Lower Plum Creek is very level, there are 5 sites, all quite nice. Light winds and plenty of sunshine made it very enjoyable. Our solar panels loved it here as well!! It was super quiet when we were here. We hiked the Devil's Canyon trail, rode our mountain bikes and had a very relaxing time.
Don't expect decent cell coverage though...we were lucky to get 2 bars on AT&T.
If you like peace and quiet and don't need any hook-ups, this is a gem. It's a long drive to the nearest town so make sure you have all of the supplies you need.

We retreated to Middle Plum Creek after an unbearably windy night in a tent at Fritch Fortress. The breeze at Plum Creek was pleasant, helped us stay cool and the bugs at bay. There are shelters, picnic tables, and fire pits. There is some wood to be collected though I recommend bringing a bundle or two along. There is a vault toilet, no sink or running water. We didn't have a view of the lake at this site but didn't mind.
We had no reception or coverage of any kind while camping here.
