US 127 North. Located on the Kentucky River, at the mouth of Elkhorn Creek. RV & tent areas have water/electric at all sites and sewer to most RV sites. Two primitive camping areas. Camp store, concessions, dump station, and bathhouse. Boat ramps, bait, canoeing and kayaking on the Kentucky River and Elkhorn Creek. Fishing, skiing, hiking, and old fashioned recreation.
Elderly guy at front desk could not find us until he called his wife on a flip phone that kept going out. Had to fill out and initial two pages of rules and info on us which I found very intrusive. Site was a muddy mess. Very wet due to rains but the gravel was inadequate. Jack pads sank into mud. Restrooms were all the way in front, quite a hike. One dump site which was hard to get to. Grounds themselves are green and pretty, too bad amenities are so poor.
Hidden gem! Wide open spaces. Michelle gave me her cell number for me to call when I got close to the area. We were at Buffalo Trace which is just down the road. Electric and water, but no sewage. Nice clean bathrooms/showers too!
