Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on March 12, 2024Holiday Park is beautiful campground, but it has some rules.
We were here in February 2016.
Main rule: no leaving the park without your pass, even if you're just running (or walking) in and out on foot. The park charges for bicycles or pedestrians to pass through along the road.
Rule 2: The gates lock at 10pm. If you're not in the park by 10pm you are locked out - there is no gate code. You can park at the gate and get your car in the morning, but if you're not camped out within the first camping area, get ready for a hike along hilly roads.
We probably wouldn't stay here again. The facilities (showers, bathrooms) are a bit run down, which is fine, except you are getting charged a penny to be here. The rules are a pain in the rear end - we found ourselves 'racing' to get back to the campground by 10pm more than once, as we didn't want to drag my 4 year old nephew on a mile+ hike at 10pm.
The camp ground is electric and water only, but has a dump station.
Many of the sites are a bit janky for a big rig - not very level. Smaller rigs have more options. Several camp sites were closed when we were there due to a recent flood. However, there are plenty of sites at elevated ground that were unscathed.
Very quiet campground.
There are some hiking trails that run through the campground which are nice.
Good cell service (Verizon) without a booster.

We stayed here in March and April of 2018. The park is a little run down but has some nice scenery and most of the camp sites are lake view. There are quite a few pull through spots, some are large enough for big rigs, you just need to scout it out. We didn't check out the public bathrooms, we always use our own. This park is popular with local cyclists and there were about a dozen there every time we visited the park.
The park gate does close and lock at 10pm but this is good, it keeps out people that shouldn't be there, keeps the noise down and almost eliminates traffic, but some lazy people do seem to think they need to drive 100 feet to the bathroom at midnight instead of walking in a well lit parking lot.

Quiet place and nice spots that are spread out.
Only downside was the lake was down so there was no way we could get into the water.
Access was very strict at 10pm gates locked but there is a parking lot just by the gate that you can stay the night.

Had a site right on the lake with a picnic table under a shelter. Beautiful morning sunrise. Only thing was bathroom by our site was so dirty it was unusable but the one near the entrance was decent.

Really nice, clean, and quite had amazing views of the water. Toilets and showers not fond of but in a pinch would take a shower just older bathrooms and showers.

Campsite was nice and level. We had a covered picnic table and then a screened in picnic table with a sink. Site 63 had plenty of space around it for the kids to play without disturbing anyone. There is a boat ramp for lake access and a fishing pier. The front gate is monitored from 6 am until 10 pm. After that you can get out but not back in. The only negative was the restroom and shower facilities. They are in rough shape. Our hot water heater failed during our stay and we had to use the parks showers. This was not a pleasant experience. We do a lot of camping at state and local parks and this restroom/shower facility was one of the worst. For that reason only we may not camp here again.

Great ACE campground. Sites are spacious and level and there are lots of shade trees plus covered picnic tables. Didn’t use facilities. AT&T coverage was decent. Only $14 with senior pass.

Nice spacious level sites. Each site had a lighted power pedestal and covered table. A long hiking/equestrian trail existed along the perimeter. But the bathrooms are old and in need of repair. They were very dirty. Glad to have my own bath in the trailer.

Although we arrived near sunset, we were right next to the lake and found this to be lovely campground. Lots of birds were around the site. We left the next morning but thought this was a campground we would like to revisit. It is a bit of a drive off the freeway but still doable for a quick overnight.

When we got to Benbrook, we used the campground (CG) website instructions as we didn’t see any signage for the CG on US377 coming in from the east. We turned right onto Pearl Ranch Rd and followed it to the Holiday COE entrance about 2 miles straight down the road. Check in was easy and the guy who checked us in was very informative. We needed to fill our freshwater tank and he pointed out on the map the two dump stations with potable water. We proceeded to the dump station just inside the gate to find out there was not a potable water spigot just the usual rinse hose. We went back to the entrance and he informed us the park ranger had told him they are on well water and thus the water at the dump station was safe, even though there was a sign clearly stating it was not safe to drink. We were then told we could go to an empty camp site that had water hook-ups and fill up there, which we did. Not sure what we would have done if this had been a busy weekend with all of the water sites full. We then proceeded to pull through site 72 with 30/50 AMP. There was plenty of space for our 39’ fifth wheel and F-450 on the asphalt pad. The site had a covered cement patio with picnic table, and bbq/fire pit that we couldn't use due to a burn ban. Site 73 was the only other site in our little cul-de-sac. For the intent of this review, we toured the campground specifically looking for free standing water spigots, but didn't find any. The showers/restroom were old but in workable shape. If you want to stay where we did in sites 72-75 they were definitely electric only, contrary to what other reviews mentioned. There were water spigots at the sites but they had been capped off. Sites 76, 77, & 78 were also electric only and sat up on a hill with a slight lake view but are across the street from a neighborhood that backs up to the park. Sites 83 - 93 had water and electric as well as some of the sites near the front of the park. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a whole bunch of OTA channels. We enjoyed the view of the lake and privacy at our site since we were the only ones there the whole time of our stay during the week.
