The Walmart in Ft. Stockton is a popular place. On a Tuesday night in October, there were at least 15 other RVs. Many had stairs and slideouts out, though I wouldn't recommend this. Security drove by a few times and all the RVs park in one area, so felt very safe. Unfortunately, one guy in a prevoat ran his generator all night while it was 65 degrees out, otherwise it would have been fairly quiet at night. Please don't be that guy.
This was the quietest Walmart we've stayed at in our 6 mos of traveling. Very thankful for the generosity and friendliness. All the campers staying with us were also very courteous.
While staying here on Nov 17, 2018, over 20 other rv's were camping in this Walmart parking lot. Everyone was quiet and courteous except the guy right next to us who ran his generator the entire time. Bought the usual necessary supplies from Walmart to show our appreciation...great stop.
This is a Walmart...but with that being said... It was a very quiet relaxing night joined by at least twenty other RVs... Would stay here again...
Great overnight location! We felt safe being there with about 20-30 other RVers/Truckers and the noise level was minimal.
When we pulled in there were at least 15 other RV’s! We did have to drive around a bit to find a spot, but it was a nice Walmart with good cell service.
If you have time, go to the Gray Mule Saloon for a TX sourced drink with great conversation in the back patio and then drive by Paisano Pete!
We've never seen so many RVs at a Walmart before. The parking lot was full by sunset, so don't get there late if you want a spot. You can park anywhere -- just park lengthwise across the spots. You'll see some lines are white and some are yellow, but that has to do with employee parking and doesn't mean anything about where RVs can park (we asked a manager about this). The employees are SUPER friendly but there's like...3 of them...total. The store is woefully understaffed because they can't compete with the oil companies. There was 1 cashier and it took us over half an hour to check out. Many many empty shelves and stacks of products in the aisles because they have nobody to unpack the boxes and load the shelves. Kinda bizarre. We like to stop at Walmart to stock up, but literally couldn't do that here because of the lack of products. That said, the employees were nice, it was strangely quiet for a Walmart parking lot, and we felt super safe.
Very busy and small Walmart parking lot.
The parking lot was full by sunset, so don't get there late if you want a spot.
There is road noise and lot of shoppers in and out. But settled down around 10-11pm
We stayed here March 5th in a Class B MH
We were pretty early so we got a good spot, there is plenty of room for your RV, and Fuel is available at a few locations nearby. There is a small convenience store/gas station on the property, and of course Walmart.
If I had one recommendation in the winter, find a place far from the crowds as some folks run their rigs to keep warm, and the fumes can be heavy. other than that it's a nice place to stop
We arrived after dark and found the place pretty full. We had to make a loop or two around to find a place to fit. It worked out in the end. Good stop on our way from Carlsbad to San Antonio. Busy but police were frequently driving through.
Would stay here again. Thank you hotel Walmart.
