The site is closed from mid-September to early March.
Our rate is with the senior interagency pass. If you go, pick a site on the north side of the campground. Bluff Creek is located near a major paper mill that runs its machinery day and night. And it smells like a paper mill. The north side is far enough removed to be spared of the annoyances. We had planned to stay four nights, but when none of the north side sites were available, we left after two. Site 64 seems to be the prime spot.

We stayed here for 5 nights in early March, 2023. We chose #79 as the view of the lake looked great - it was a nice view, however the site behind us was very close - happy he did not have a fire at night or we would have had to close the windows. My brother was in #83 which was super private. Site 64 had its own little point and would be our favorite. Long sites - some closer to others and some about 200' long. Yes, the noise from the paper mill can be heard throughout the CG, but the higher numbered sites were quieter. Liked the laundry facilities, but prop the door open when you use the dryer or it is a steambath in there (wet counter to fold clothes on). Showers were decent - dated but worked fine. Our price includes the senior discount.
***SUPER IMPORTANT***: go VERY SLOW over the railroad tracks coming into the CG - brutal.

Sites are a little close together but we're mostly open when I stayed. Sites are level, many on the water and most are shaded. I saw birds, squirrels and deer. Only down side is nearby papermill. It runs all night so consistent background roar most all the time and if wind is right you get the smell.

It was a constant battle fighting the ants. Had to do major treatment in the camper when we got home. The paper mill noise would depend on the wind direction. When it was noisy, it sounds like large jets constantly taking off. The lady in the check in station was very nice but there was no other interaction with volunteers. I would consider another campground over this one mainly because of all the ants. Our rate is with the lifetime senior pass.

Bluff Creek Campground is located on Walter F. George Lake on the George/Alabama border. There are plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities to enjoy at the lake, as well as the Chattahoochee River. And the area is often referred to as the €œBig Bass Capital of the World.€ So grab your pole, water-ski, or tube and have some fun on the water. Or you can just kick back on one of the many beaches or picnic areas at the lake.
