Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 14, 2017This campground is situated about 20 miles south of Flagstaff in the Coconino National Forest on an excellent road. All roads and sites in the campground are paved. Bathrooms are very clean with water and flush toilets. There is a shower facility ($3 for 5 minutes) which is also very clean and has good hot water. There is a water fill station next to the showers along with a dump station. Just about all the sites have some shade during the day as the campground is situated in a ponderosa pine forest. With an elevation of about 7,000 ft the weather here is very pleasant compared to other parts of Arizona (low 80's during the day and 50's at night). There is off-roading, hiking, mountain biking available all around in this national forest area and Flagstaff proved to be very interesting with lots of fun things to see and do. The main road from Flagstaff (Lake Mary Road) is used by many cyclists to train since it has very wide shoulders.
Loop A is first come first serve and Loop B is reservable with a combination of pull-through and back-in sites (total 46 sites). All sites have concrete picnic tables, tent pads, fire rings and some of the nicest bbq grills we've seen. There are several other campgrounds along the main highway south of Flagstaff (some closer) but this one has the most amenities and can accept big rigs in several of the sites. There are no hookups but we made do with solar panels from a strong mid-day sun. There was an even mixture of tent/RV campers in the campground. Weekends did fill up but mostly families and everyone was very respectful of their neighbors. We used our Senior Pass and camped here for $11/night.
Cell signal varies from the different sites - we got 3 bars with a booster in Site B16 which sits up higher.

Large campground staff keeps campground spotlessly clean. Each site raked and manicured after each campers stay. Staff very friendly and will bring firewood and ice to your spot. Elk bugling in the morning.

As the other reviewers said, this is a very nice NF campground just a short drive SE of Flagstaff. There are paved roads, clean bathrooms, level sites (most with shade), good staff, water and a dump station. The Arizona Trail crosses the campground access road and provides good hiking and mountain biking in addition to the road biking on Lake Mary Rd.

I have been to this campground many times since I live in the Sedona Area. It is a great way to get out of the heat and into the tall Ponderosa Pines. There is a fishing lake near by and many meadows and trails that are great for dogs. I have a 25 foot class C Winnabago View. It works well in most of their campsites. All are very level and paved. It has clean flush toilets, hot pay showers, dump station, and potable tank fill water. Potable water is near all bathrooms. Sturdy fire pits and charcoal grills at each site. Camp Hosts are always pleasant. The Morman Lake tavern is only a few miles away for a dinner out, or the Lake Mary Camp shop is near by too for small things you may have forgotten. If you have a car, there is much to do in Flagstaff. There are other smaller national forest campgrounds surrounding Pine Grove, but they don't have the amenities and are not as nice.

Fairly well separated sites are private and quiet.
Dumping is included with camping fee, otherwise is $6.00. Timed Showers for a fee.
Good Verizon signal (3 bars) at our site (46) near the camp hosts. ATT was 2 bars. 20 minutes to Flagstaff.

Date of stay: Oct. 6-9, 2019...price $12.50 reflects 50% Access Pass discount...This is a perfectly lovely campground, but we hit it on its last open week and during a school break so there were lots of kids running (and scooting and biking) around, so it wasn't the peaceful experience we were hoping for. At another time, I'm sure we would have enjoyed this park as much as we've enjoyed others of its kind. The sites weren't quite as large as some of the other AZ USFS campgrounds, but we had plenty of room in our pull-thru, which we'd reserved. This CG offers a dump and water fill, flush restrooms, as well as a nice shower house ($3 for 5 mins., change machine out front, we looked in but didn't use.) Firewood and ice were for sale. There were 3-4 hosts, all of those we came in contact with were very nice and helpful. Sites were well-maintained with fire rings, barrel grills, and concrete picnic tables. There is a 1-mile nature trail in the park, and the Arizona Trail transects the park as well.

This is a lovely campground with great hosts, clean bathrooms & there are showers & a dump station. Only 2 hours from Phoenix, so yes, can get busy & noisy during summer weekends as folks try to escape the heat. BTW I-17 is to be avoided NB on Fridays & SB on Sundays for same reason. If you are unfortunate enough to find yourself on this Interstate after an accident, be prepared to cool your heels (pun intended) for an hour or more due to very few exit points to detour. However, this is a very peaceful campground mid week. There are many FF sites which are more spacious than the reserve-able ones. Lovely back in sites with lovely views of meadows & pine trees. If Upper Lake Mary is full, it's a nice walk to the lake. However, due to drought this year, it was so low that it would have been quite a hike. There are many lakes in the area to drive to for fishing or Kayaking. Flagstaff, with it's many amenities is only about 30 min away. There are many wonderful sites to see in the area, including the San Fransisco Peaks, Sunset Crater, Wapatki NM and Walnut Canyon. Sedona is close enough for a day trip down Oak Creek Canyon.

We stayed here 3 nights in early September, the rate reflects our America the Beautiful Pass discount. The campground is nestled in a pine forest with paved drives and camping pads. Each site has a picnic table, grill, fire ring, and tent pad. The campground has flush toilets, water, hot showers ($3.00 for 5 minutes), and trash containers. This is a clean and well maintained campground with great camp hosts. There is a short loop trail located at the amphitheater, the trail is an easy walk through a forested area with an abundance of wild flowers.
