Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on April 14, 2023The employee in the office, Cindy, was great in accommodating us during their busiest season when our truck broke down and would take a week to fix. No other campground in the area would even attempt to help us. She gave us a site in the area normally reserved for long-term guests. We had an end site that was very spacious.
We noticed that the overnight sites are much smaller, but my review is based solely on our stay.
Only 3 washers/dryers for the whole park. No shower facilities, so you need to be self-contained. Full hook-up sites, tasty water. Lots of trees for shade.
Not a fancy place, but hey, we're not fancy people. So, if you're looking for a park with tons of amenities and activities, don't come here.
Some of the permanent resident sites look a little rundown, but that's the way it goes sometimes. The park was very quiet other than a fair amount of highway noise.
We loved Flagstaff. Great town, great vibe, tons to do and see.
We tend to boondock and shy away from RV parks but I enjoyed my stay here far more than I thought I would.

Very close to downtown Flag and lots of stores. Full hookups and laundry (bring your own soap). Nice trees and great cell service. WiFi didn’t work and we were close to the office.

We stopped for the night on our way to the East Coast. Our site was really big and easy to get in to. It is really quaint and the full timers are super friendly. The roads are a little rough, but not unmanageable. The ladies bathroom were super clean, the men’s restroom smelled a little. We pulled in after dark and it was hard to see where To go, so we had to stop and get out to see the signage.

We stayed two nights at Kit Carson. I had saw some reviews stating the management was not nice and I was pleasantly surprised. They were very friendly. The park is very large and filled with huge pine trees. The roads are unpaved and a little rough but completely manageable. Since the park was so large, and we came in after hours, we started off the wrong direction and it was a bit tricky maneuvering the turns. Had we gone in the he correct way it would have been simple.
The only problem we had, other than getting lost to start, was finding the water hookups. It was getting dark and we were unable to find the connection. I called maintenance and a very nice man came out immediately to assist us. The connection was in a tricky spot and the neighbor had it concealed with a chair.
If you are doing things in town or the surrounding area this location is great. We had to make a few trips to Walmart since we were outfitting a new trailer and it was only two miles away.
We were jn row H and that seemed to be a good location. Some of the shorter spots were closer to the main road and I wouldn’t have wanted to be in those spots.
Full hookups was great since we got snowed on. We were warm and cozy and had no idea what was going on outside. Good value for the money.

We are usually generous with our reviews as long as we are at least treated well, but we’ve never been treated with this level of disrespect before. In short, do yourself a favor and drive the half mile to Woody’s.
The longer version: on the initial phone call the manager acted like I was trying to rip her off when I told her we had a Good Sam membership, ok, no big deal. Upon our arrival we were sent to a site that was already occupied, ok, move on. We find an empty nearby site and park...all is well. After four hours driving we wanted to use the restroom at the bath house before settling. No water in the sinks, toilets, or showers. (Not to mention, the bath house is a makeshift mini-barn with tiny stalls). I approach the front office to ask about the water and they acted surprised and talked badly about the maintenance crew for not communicating with them. We were told that it should be fixed “soon.” What does that mean?! I told them I was going to hold off on setting up our rig until it was fixed so that we could move along if we could not shower or do laundry. The manager rolled her eyes and we walked back to the camper. We decided that the best option would be to get a refund and move on. As I approached the office they were locking up so I initiated a conversation with the first person that would look at me. She said that she understood but needed to ask the manager, who had just driven up on her way out. The manager became visibly upset at the sound of refund and asked me, “can you not just wait until they fix it?” “Can you not just shower in your RV?” After reminding her that we had driven all day, been boondocking for a bit, and we’re ready to just move on, she says, “good luck finding a shower” and sped away. The other staff apologized for the manager’s rudness and said that she was the only one who could give a refund, but that her policy is “no refunds.” About 20 minuets later as we were leaving a staff member says that the manager was coming back and was “leaning towards a refund.” As she (the manager) approached our truck she began to tell me how ridiculous I was being...
We left and are seeking our money back from ownership.

Stopped here for one night and had mixed feelings about the place. Admittedly, we were here in the off-season so maybe the campground has a different vibe during peak season.
Pros:
1. Only 1.5 miles from town. I was able to take my 3-mile morning walk and stop at Dunkin' Donuts at the halfway point. I even grabbed a cup of coffee for the walk back home.
2. Super easy to access from I-40, and no need to drive through Flagstaff. Just use Exit 191, and take Bus. Rte. 40 east to the campground.
3. Tall mature pine trees provides a woodsy feel.
4. Very long pull-thru sites with a gravel base. Easy to get in and out of.
5. Showers have awesome water pressure and were hot!
Cons:
1. Doesn't really seem like a campground for travelers. There's no amenities other than a bathhouse and laundry. It looks like it's mostly permanent residents in older mobile homes, stationary RVs, and a few tiny homes (although perhaps it was just the time of year).
2. Office hours were only 10 am - 2 pm. Luckily I called around 1 pm to check on availability and got a hold of someone.
3. Cost is a bit more on the expensive side considering it was the off-season. Yes, the FHU, pull-thru sites and long and mostly level, but the place was also mostly empty that time of year, so $40 seemed a but high.
4. The weird bathroom situation...
The first thing I noticed was a sign saying that the bathrooms closed from 7pm-7am. I've never encountered that before. Why do they need to be closed for 12 hours? But, this isn't even accurate. We returned from dinner around 7:30 pm and the men's bathroom was still unlocked, so our son was able to run down to the bathhouse and take a quick shower before bed. But, then next morning, my husband went to use the bathroom around 8 am, and the men's side was still locked! So, not only do they close the bathrooms/showers during the entire night - but then they didn't re-open it when they advertised.
Second, the bathroom design is really odd. They tried to cram 2 showers + 2 toilets into the women's bathroom. That meant one toilet was turned sideways (and your knees touched the partition wall for the second stall) and the second stall was so short my knees touched the door when I was sitting down. I'm not a giant, so I could make do. But, I can't image how a larger person would even fit.

Trees are nice, everything else is not. WI-FI was non existent even though 3 connection points were available, but only one detected that would not allow network setup. Others were available, but management would not provide info for passwords because who knows why. Site was not near level, had to use blocks so that tires would not lift off ground during auto leveling. This park is mainly 90% full timers, which gives it a non maintained and cluttered feeling.

This is a long term trailer park with some spots for short term RV’s. The road next to the park is very noisy, you get 3 Wi-Fi connections, but only one was available and it failed! It is set into nice trees, but the layout is crappy. Now to make a turn out of the site is blocked by trees, hopefully camper behind me will move so I can back out. Site is extremely unlevel.

We called the day before thur 2/27 to make a last min reservation for the following day. The woman I spoke to was very nice and told me I could just come by in the morning (10 am).
