Last spring pretty much every park in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that is close to water was flooded. This one was no exception. We stayed here in September and maybe 2/3 of the first loop was open for camping. No day use was permitted, which made for a pretty quiet stay. You can tell where the water did the damage, but the sides are nice and well kept for the circumstances. Every site has a pretty big shelter with a table inside and plenty of room to that. Some of the sides also have nice big trees for shade.
The camp hosts were nice and helpful but kept mostly to themselves (which I appreciate since we were right next to them). The beach was closed but fishing was allowed. Other than that, there is not much to do.
This park is probably the least expensive one in this area that is still open as of this summer, and it's located conveniently close to two interstates (without hearing them).

Gorgeous landscape. We were there in our small travel trailer on a Thursday night and the sites were mostly empty. We backed up right up against the lake in a mostly-level site. Maybe 40-50' between sites. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Supposedly there are huge carp in the lake, if that's what you're looking to fish. Bathrooms are on the cleaner side of average for a natural campground. Will probably stay here again, especially for only $14/night.

As most of the other reviews, I agree. It is quiet and the lake front is great. A lot of space between campsites and some can be challenging to back in. Especially in my case, but I have a Casita so made easy work.
The restrooms are terrible. I have been on the road for two years and never seen these restrooms to be so unclean and no toilet paper. They appear to have been cleaned for weeks. I will call the Corp of Engineers tomorrow. From previous experience, I have found them most of the time that these campgrounds to be clean.
If you do not have to use the rest rooms, then this a great place to relax and enjoy

We had a great time at this park. The pups got to run around and play. We had the park almost to ourselves. Staying right on the water made for some beautiful views. We were woken up by coyotes howling outside of our door in the night but it's almost charming, right?
The main downside was that unfortunately we arrived right after they reopened from being flooded so the nearest restroom was shut down. We had to walk quite a ways to get to an operating restroom and upon arrival, the restroom was not pleasant to say the least.

This was a pretty park. The road in had a number of serious pot holes, so be careful. The sites were quite close together where we were. The free wifi would only connect the first night we were there and didn't work for the rest of our stay. The gatekeeper warned us to be careful about power usage, not using two air conditioners at once, for example. We were in the area to meet relatives for bluebonnet viewing, and this park was in a great location for that. The bathrooms are very old, but were basically clean. Became very crowded by Friday afternoon, with most campers fishing.

This was our first long stay in our new RV and it was great! Our spot had a nice mature tree that was great for hanging up our little one’s play set, but not great for rainy days. The ground beneath the tree doesn’t have much grass so it got muddy quickly. The lake view was beautiful and walks along the shore were very pleasant. The restrooms are family style with showers and were nice and clean. We didn’t have any issues with our hookups or using the dump station and I liked that grocery stores and restaurants were only 10 minutes away.

We stayed June 4 and 5th. We stayed at #42 which was shady one night. The second night we stayed at #26, which had no shade. The second section sends to have more shady spots. We didn't use the bathrooms so could not vouch them. It was also during Covid reopening. It was muddy near the bank. It was not too bad , unlike Cedar Hill. The water was nice and cool, unlike Cedar hill. There were a few pot holes on the section between the first section of the campground and the second.

We backed directly up to the water. The picnic tables had a cover. Fire ring. We had 30 amp electrical and water. Dump station easy access. Backing into our RV site was very difficult since there was a ditch on the side of the road and concrete along the edges of the drive. There were lots of bugs in September. But for $14, we would definitely stay there again!!!
