Apple River Fort was a stockade built during the 1832 Black Hawk War to protect settlements along the Apple River in Jo Daviess County, Illinois.
This site is not open on Mondays, but you can still walk back to the fort. The fort is a reproduction of a small, hastily assembled fort that was used in one 45 minute skirmish in June, 1832.
