Hose next to dump didn’t work but there was a spigot nearby that we just attached our hose to so we could rinse.
We stayed at this rest area overnight (8 hours allowed in CA). Arrived late, left early.
There is a nice dumpstation. Nearby is a spigot with potable water (with threads) - I suspect some people use it to flush out their dump hose with it. I guess one could attach their fresh water hose to it to fill their tanks.
What we found is that in the auto part of the rest area (not the trucker area), there are at least two water fountains with spigots (with threads) located in front of the car parking spaces. The first one is right at the start of the parking lot, the other is further forward by the bathroom building. The water pressure isn't great, but if you hook your fresh water hose up there, you can fill up your tank knowing nobody used it for other purposes but drinking.
The rest area is right by the highway so of course noisy. But if you park right at the start of the auto parking lot, you are furthest away from the truckers who leave their engines running all night long. Plus travelers tend to park their cars closer to the restrooms, so you won't hear door opening/shutting all night long.
Sign for the rest area says Dump Station Closed, both EB and WB. 12/12/19
Just drove by and saw a big yellow sign saying RV DUMP NOT OPEN at the entrance. Don't know if that's a Covid-19 thing or a normal thing.
Was driving from AZ to CA and stopped here. Hook up for water and dump. There was one guy finishing up as we arrived, but barely waited 5 min for our turn. Will definitely come here again in the future
Stopped by after a week of boondocking. Rinse hose and separate water spigot both worked. Trash barrels by the water. Free and clean.
