Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 06, 2023Arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday. Lots of open sites to choose from. The lower loop sites seemed to have the best views. Immaculately clean pit toilets. The road in was dirt, but well maintained. There was no sign on 191, but the Campendium directions worked well.

Aside from the occasional ATVs and dirt bikes, this is a very quiet campground at a cool 9K ft. The road in is steep and narrow one lane, dirt and gravel, rough in spots. Not bad except it would not be possible for two large vehicles to pass. I stayed in a less private, less scenic open site for solar. There appeared to be a couple of fifth wheels in the higher number area of the park. They ran generators but they were barely audible from where I was. The lower numbers appear to be the prime sites, all were reserved for the upcoming holiday weekend. Fee is $5/night, $2.50 with pass. Would definitely stay here again. A note about Verizon: What I got was 3 bars of 1x, mostly good only for call and text, although from time to time I was able to get online.

Stayed 6/27/21. The price is $5 if you're feeling lucky but I booked through Recreation.gov and it was $14 or for us $10.50 with the senior pass. It was worth it. Very clean and only about 1/2 full on that Sunday night.
The camps were clean and the road getting in a bit rough but our SUV had no problems. Only trouble is some of the sites are not well marked and it took us a bit to find #5 (it was up the road marked #1...).
Beautiful high mountain with great view all covered with pine and aspen trees. Definitely worth a return visit. I was able to send/receive texts and pics.

We arrived at 4P the day after July 4th. I see that many sites had been occupied for the weekend and holiday but all were gone. One other camper came in. Many sites have views and pit toilets are clean and close by or adjacent to the sites. Some portions of the road were rough but we were pulling a travel trailer.
The facilities are clean and maintained but trails, signage, etc. lacks the TLC we used to see in NFS campgrounds.
