Speeds were good in the parking lot and the manager said reception is good in the RV park as well (they upgraded wifi last year, adding more transmitters), but I didn't confirm. GoogleFi reception was just ok at the lodge but about ¼ mile up the road it's quite good -- possibly a cell tower there. Pizza was good!

Local manager relayed “corporate” bought property last year. Appears new owners invested in lodge and restaurant, but not RV spots. 2 full hookups and 2 W/E scattered among confusing layout of cabins, greenhouse, and horse corral. No T-Mobile / ATT signal. Site littered. WIFI only ok in lodge, not RV spots. Observed a man, apparently living in car, twice use code to access restrooms. We left early and will take a beating on cancelation, but much better options are available 18 miles east in Dubois.

We werent able to get a rv spot in colter bay inside grand teton national park like we wanted, so we started to look at rv sites close to the south entrance of the park. Lava Mountain had mixed reviews on campendium, so we were hesitant but im glad we took the chance. We enjoyed it. There are several different types of rv sites here mixed in with the hotel rooms and cabins. The rv sites were a mix of fhu, w/e, and just electric. The two full hook up rv spots are near the cabins. They are pretty close to the cabins, but we got site 1 which was a fhu spot that was awesome. the door side of our rv opened up to unobstructed views of the horses and valley below. We might not have been happy with site 2 though because it was tucked between two cabins. Our rig is 31 feet and fit perfectly in our site. Anything too much bigger (over 40 ft my guess) might be a hard fit. The staff was friendly and they have a cool bar and restaurant on site. We were surprised at how nice the staff was considering the reviews here. The bar even had Shiner beer! Being from Texas, we were very surprised. the bar tender said it sells well. The bar/restaurant seem to be pretty popular after hours with both locals and visitors, even on a monday and tuesday night. The free wifi was fast (average about 30 mbps) and reached us at site 1. You will not have any service with verizon, att, or tmobile. We have devices with each of these services, but got no connection. Thank goodness for the free wifi. They have gas pumps if you need it. Our only complaint was the laundry room. There was only one working washer. Of the three dryers they had, only one efficiently dried clothes, so we had to hang dry our clothes in our rig overnight to get it to finish drying. Its about a 45 minute drive to the grand teton east gate, and about a 20 minute drive to the cute little town of Dubois, Wy. If you can get site 1, I highly recommend this place
