Mavreeso campground is a quaint NFS campground on the Dolores River. It is located about 25 miles northeast of the town of Dolores Colorado. The road to Mavreeso campground is paved and in nice condition. There are a few campsites along the river and some sites are big enough for large motor homes. There are reservable sites, 4 with electricity, and non-reservable sites. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring and sites appeared to be fairly level. Note, there is absolutely NO cell service here. The sound of the river can be heard throughout low key campground. We fished and saw many people fishing/catching trout during our 6 day stay. It seemed some days were better than others as far as fishing goes. This place was loaded with hummingbirds. Bring your feeder if you enjoy hummingbird watching. There are 3 non threaded water faucets located around campground loop, a vault toilet restroom and trash pickup is provided. If you have a travel trailer or RV with a large fresh water holding tank, you may want to fill tank before heading to Mavreeso. No dump station in this campground. The town of Cortez offers a dump station about 30 miles southwest from Mavreeso campground. The dump station service is free and open 24 hours. It’s located at 110 W Progress Circle in Cortez. There is a small fee for potable water. You will need quarters to operate the potable water machine. One quarter gets you about 10 gallons of water. We camped at Mavreeso Campground in July 2018.
