Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on February 10, 2024A smooth gravel road in with no pot holes. This is a basic campground where you park next to the road. Each site has a picnic table some with shelter and some no shelter. All have garbage cans and they pick up every other day. Cost is $4.00 or $2.00 with Senior pass. Occasionally you will see a deer. The best site is 6, it’s the only one with a water view and it’s separate from the others. 5 bars of Verizon 4G. We stayed 14 days and there were an average of 8 other campers most nights. Antenna TV brings in 4 or 5 stations all Spanish. About 5 miles east to Del Rio with Walmart and restaurants. Diablo East is about 5 miles west and has a dump station with potable water. Cripple Creek Restaurant is a couple of minutes east and has great food.

Clean camp sites. Clean bathrooms but no water. No hook ups but didn't need them. I went to a couple other sites that your related to the Amistad National Recreation Area. San Pedro is probably the most boring. The other sites seem to have much better views and more apparent trails to hike. The other sites were more expensive to stay at and no T-Mobile service. You may consider camping at San Pedro and visiting the other campgrounds. The other campgrounds are nearby.

Much better than a Walmart or similar parking lot. Quiet, convenient distance off the highway, far enough that there is no road noise.

We arrived here just before sunset. I was pleasantly surprised to see plenty of open sites. I will say that because we didn’t use coordinates to get here that it was a little tricky finding it. So here’s some help if you have Google Maps.

The last mile of the road is a gravel road, but wasn’t a problem for us. Watch out for ants!
This was a perfect stop for us on our way to Big Bend NP from San Antonio.
We would stay here again.

Level sites, definitely big rig friendly. BBQ grills, picnic tables and shade structures at each site. Pit toilets and trash bins available.
Not near the lake, no lake view.

Fits all rig sizes with plenty of flat space! This is the largest campground in Amistad and no worries about rig size here! Although there are no water views, it is a convenient location to Del Rio. Coming from spur 454, the narrow gravel road looks ominous for big rigs, but it’s fine. Pull down the gravel road and there’s plenty of space to loop through the campground to find a spot! There are at least 4-5 pit toilets and a trash bin for every couple sites.

I spent 3 nights at San Pedro. I was the only camper in the campground for two of the nights. One tent camper showed up for the third night. Easy access off of US 90. All sites are level and most have a metal cover with concrete tables. The park is patrolled by friendly Park Rangers. The grounds are well kept and the composting toilets are very clean and no odor. Fairly close to shopping and gas. No water, electricity or sewer disposal. Visited Del Rio and Seminole Canyon SP while there. I was very pleased. Just a little noise from traffic on US90 but not so loud as to be bothersome.
