“Hotel, casino and gaming resort”
The Lodge is one of the newest, most beautiful Deadwood hotels. When you arrive at the Lodge at Deadwood, you won't be able to take your eyes off the breathtaking panoramic view of the Black Hills and the high plains of Western South Dakota. This scenic, year-round Deadwood hotel and casino stands in a hilltop meadow off the shoulder of historic Mount Roosevelt. Just outside your door is a million-acre playground for hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, skiing, and snowmobiling.
Staff was helpful. Lodge is nice and directly across from Kevin Costner's Tatanka: The Story of the Buffalo. We liked the playground pool that is open 8 am-10 pm, but we wished there was a separate pool for older kids and adults without children. We did not go to the casino at all or eat at the restaurants. We liked the out of town location. Lots of motorcyclists from Sturgis in town for last weekend of the rally. We stayed two nights.
Great hotel out of the fray of Deadwood. Yes, we non-bikers planned our vacation during the Sturgis Rally. We appreciated being at the Lodge because it was not right in the downtown section, so we were able to get out to see other sites much easier. Also, it's still close to downtown.
My teenage kids enjoyed the pool and I loved the hot tub (clearest water I've ever seen in a hot tub). The restaurant was fantastic. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and enjoyed all three.
This place is great. Awesome pool play area for kids (and adults.) Casino seemed nice, even though we didn't partake. Restaurants are really, really good. We ate at Oggies for dinner and breakfast and it was great. Amazing view too. Nice to be tucked away from the bustle of Deadwood.
