The Cove Palisades State Park is a state park in eastern Jefferson County, Oregon, near Culver and Madras in the central part of the state, and is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is located on the waters and surrounding lands of Lake Billy Chinook, an impoundment of the Crooked, Deschutes, and Metolius rivers.
It's worth driving by here if say you're on your way from Portland to Bend. Beautiful scenic views of a not well known canyon. In the distant background you can also see the mountains.
This place is the worst place I have ever camped in Oregon State Park. Ugly terrain, abundance of staff willing to tell you the rules but unwilling to help you. We picked a spot halfway home from family trip and this was it, don't know why anyone would ever camp here. Lies about Wi-Fi, they have it listed on reserve America and you can see it available but when you ask for the token needed to log on, staff said it is "ghost" Wi-Fi = not really any WiFi... Whatever! People working there should be fired. Also smells like the staff is smoking pot, which explains the lack of motivation when asked for assistance with anything.
