Southern Comfort Campground

This was our first stop in FL. The rates were cheap $320.00 a month plus $100.00 electricity deposit. What shocked me was that they charged a $50.00 deposit for the bathroom to use the shower.
At the time our shower was not working in our RV but we got it fixed fast. The shower had very little privacy, with just a flimsy curtain and no place to put your clothes except for a chair outside the shower. The shower had hot water and was clean but was dated.

There is no cable TV and the campground internet is sporadic. Sometimes it worked well and at other times not at all.
Our site was all sand and our motorhome would sink after we leveled it many times.. It would only remain stable for about two hours and it would sink in the sand again.

Also our holding tank hose would not fit into the sewer hookup. I believe it was because the sewer hook up drain was too small, since the screw on cap would not fit it either and that is required by FL law that all sewage drains have a screw on top.

There were no activities at the campground which surprised me. There is bar there but I believe it was opened one time for the Superbowl game and it was BYOB and pot luck dinner. We did not go since we were give less than 24 hours notice of the event.

The campground is a mix of traveling RV'ers and folks that live there. Some of the trailers are run down.

They have 2 washers and 2 dryers one washer was broken for the entire two months we were there and one dryer doesn't dry well. They do however have a clothes line which is nice.

We also had a difficult time getting the balance of our electric deposit and had to make a trip out of our way to get it.

It has been a particularly rainy season in this area. We’ve been here about 2 hours and are contemplating getting out before we can’t get through the dirt(muddy) road. Small campground, pool looks okay, if we could get to it. Avoid staying here during rainy season.

nice open minded liberal clothing optional campground. most of the nudity i saw was at night after dark. mostly people sitting outside their unit and walking back and forth to the bathrooms in the middle of the night, nobody seemed to mind the open nudity. showers were clean but very small shower curtains with no privacy of any kind, but i didnt mind that at a clothing optional campground anyway. friendly people and helpful staff. good location and close to everything I would be glad to come and stay again, very nice place imho.
