Road in was slow going, narrow, but very doable in my 25 ft class C. Just be careful as you turn off the highway onto the forest service road. There's a bit of a drop off!
Level, pull through site. So quiet at night, even though campground was nearly full. Nothing on the passenger side but forest. Was able to open my bedroom window and star gaze at night. Primitive but clean site. Short walk to beautiful O'Dell creek. Very refreshing in the 90+ heat.
Never saw a ranger and no hosts on site but was not a problem.

Sites are pull through though 9 has a pine tree on each side of the curved pull through necessitating some shilled maneuvering for a 24 footer.Other sites are much more open.

I was able to grab an awesome spot on a late Sunday afternoon in July for one night. We’re in a camper van and the spot was a large, pull through spot located close to the pit toilets. This spot and all the others on this side of the loop are on the creek/tributary to the lake. There are paths along the water that are accessible from the campsite and also the main road to explore. Would definitely stay here again if I’m able to snap a waterfront spot. The rest of the sites are fine, but don’t compare to the waterfront. Cell coverage was extremely spotty - I was receiving some texts and could make a call but was very erratic.

Davis Lake is 3,000 acres in size and 22 feet deep. The lake has populations of rainbow and whitefish. Fishing is restricted to fly fishing only with artificial flies. Boat speed restricted to 10 mph to get out onto the lake and back. Trolling with a motor is illegal. The lake's unique character is a result of a large lava flow which blocked the flow of Odell Creek. The result is a lake which occasionally covers 3,000 acres. There is no apparent outlet for the lake but the lava block dam permits water to escape to a yet unknown destination. Odell and Ranger creeks feed Davis Lake. However, the flow of these streams does not equal the water lost through the lava. Consequently, the water area of the lake declines steadily throughout the summer season. Davis Lake has three campgrounds and one boat ramp. East Davis Campground has 33 units, West Davis has 25 units. Both have fireplaces, tables, water with hand pump, and toilet facilities. Lava Flow has 12 units, no drinking water, tables, a boat ramp and toilet facilities. Don not forget your fishing gear since the Davis Lake offers excellent fishing. Only fly fishing is permitted on the lake itself, but various baits and lures can be used in Odell Creek. Look for the Game Department's sign which delineate the fly fishing only area. In order to preserve the meadow habitat and to insure against pollution of the lake, you are asked not to camp on the meadow. Motor vehicles are restricted off roads.
