The trail leading to Cleetwood Cove begins along East Rim Drive approximately four and a half miles east of North Junction. The route begins on the right side of Rim Drive at an elevation 6,850. It descends steeply using switchbacks on an 11% grade. The track ends one mile from the trailhead at an elevation of 6,176 feet. Directions from North Entrance Station: Drive southward on the park road several miles to North Junction. Turn left on East Rim Drive and travel 4.5 eastward to the trailhead. Seasonal Information: Normally Open: Mid-July through Early September.
Absolutely beautiful. This trail is one you must do if you're never coming back to Crater Lake. It is the ONLY ONE that will take you down to the lake level. If you're brave enough, bring a bathing suit and jump in. The flora and fauna along this trail is also amazing. There's a very distinct bright green moss that grows on the trees and at the bottom you may see some hummingbirds that camouflage as large moths.
