Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 20, 2021We loved this campground. Plenty of space, clean pit toilets and lots of quiet. Easy hike or drive to Shuree Ponds. The road in is rough, and mainly washboard. Be prepared for your teeth to rattle. It took us about 1.5 hours to get from the main road to our campsite (towing a small camper). We came from Questa and went across to Cimmaron. It was rough both ways. We saw...elk, bear and lovely vistas opened up around corners. Take your time, enjoy the journey. This campground has corrals for horses. Pick your spot accordingly. We saw very few off road vehicles on the road- actually they are not legal on the roads.yeah! This is a wilderness area and as such only main roads are open to any vehicles. Be prepared to hike. Bring what you need!! Water available via faucet. Host was there, nice, but a messy site. No cell service at campground, but I could get a signal at several lookouts. You can reserve sites online.

Stayed in early July 2020. No hookups, but water in campground and pit toilets. I was there to fish for the Rio Grange Cutthroat. No phone reception without climbing a mountain. Beautiful preserve. Washboard roads everywhere!
